About Michelle Jones:

I am a specialist in healthcare governance and quality improvement with a unique interdisciplinary background that bridges environmental risk management, law, and patient advocacy. Originally graduating as an ambassador of one of the UK’s first Environmental Risk Management degree programmes—with placements in the Welsh Assembly Government and Environment Agency—I went on to explore legal practice before transitioning into healthcare.

Driven by a passion for safeguarding and systemic improvement, I have worked in complex forensic hospital settings, leading crisis intervention services and embedding quality and safety principles across multidisciplinary teams. I bring expertise in regulatory compliance, structured communication model (including SAGE & THYME), and inclusive training tailored to neurodiversity and accessibility. I am committed to transparent service delivery, ethical governance, and delivering meaningful outcomes for both patients and professionals.

Now actively pursuing roles within the HSE, I aim to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in healthcare quality and safety, while fulfilling my dream of relocating to the Irish countryside with my Irish Glen of Imaal Terrier dogs.

Experience

Here’s a strong summary of your professional experience, Michelle, ideal for the top of your CV or as a personal profile:

Professional Summary

I have experience spanning healthcare, environmental policy, and legal practice. My career began as an ambassador promoting the Environmental Risk Management degree programme, which was in its early stages in 2003, during a period of significant policy change. I helped secure government-backed placements in policy development and waste regulation. I later pursued postgraduate legal studies, gaining experience in land and environmental law before transitioning into health and social care. I have since completed both a Postgraduate Diploma in Law and a Postgraduate Certificate in Social Work.

Within healthcare, I have held quality and safety roles in forensic mental health settings, specialising in safeguarding, incident response, service improvement, and inclusive training. I bring a unique combination of legal, policy insight, and risk management expertise, underpinned by structured communication models and a deep commitment to patient-centred care.

I am now focused on contributing to quality governance within the HSE and supporting systemic improvement across Irish healthcare services.
