About Midhila Shaju:

Organized and dependable with good communication skills candidate successful at managing multiple priorities with a positive attitude. Willingness to take on added responsibilities to meet team goals. I am looking for an opportunity to build up my professional experience in the Adult Advanced Echocardiography area. Keen to learn new techniques.

Experience

I am doing training at North Middlesex University Hospital, London as a Cardiac Physiologist. Performing the echocardiography with the supervision of the Lead Cardiac physiologist. Knowledge and understanding of  Valvular heart diseases, Ischemic heart disease, and congenital heart disease from the BSE guidelines. Moreover, connecting the ECG leads to the patient while doing the echo. Measurements of the Lv study with reporting to lead cardiac physiologist. I am learning the BSE standards with NHS trust guidelines and protocols in the department.

In India, I worked at St. Martha's Hospital, Bangalore, India as Cardiac Technologist (cardiac physiologist) from April 2021 to July 2021. I have worked mainly in adult echocardiography in Continuous & Pulse wave doppler, color doppler echo, tissue doppler imaging, and M-mode but also needed to work in primary investigation. 80% of my work is in Echocardiography, as a competent echocardiographer,  being able to perform all procurers done in the echo department including TTE (OP and IP) and DSE.

Undependably perform adult echo and authorize reports. As per department protocol, significant and urgent findings will be escalated to the responsible doctors. The rest of the time I worked in cathlab to assist the consultant during all procedures including device closure, rotablation, IVUS, and pressure wire study. I performed an exercise tolerance test (ETT) individually, connecting the leads to the patient by checking blood pressure and monitoring the BP while doing the test. Interpretation of ST-T changes, and any arrhythmias, reported to the duty cardiologist. Connecting the 12 lead ECGs with the interpretation of Bundle Branch Blocks, arrhythmias, Complete heart block, Myocardial infarction, etc.

I'm also competent in delivering a high level of clinical services, maintaining a high standard of clinical work, and encouraging and motivating the other staff to do likewise.
Vital role in day-to-day departmental activities such as assisting the managers to ensure satisfactory patient services, maintenance, and tending of stocks.
I have done on-call and help department at any emergency (emergency bedside echo, cathlab on the table echo etc). I have worked hard to meet patients' requirements and the procedures' clinical priorities. Effectively communicating with colleagues and other departments to ensure the smooth running of the department. Then I signoff from the hospital for higher education.

I co-operate with my line manager to ensure satisfactory patient service, maintained and liaise with other cardiology staff ensuring effective teamwork. eg: involved in duty rota preparation and informing responsible managers wherever service expected to be compromised due to multiple reasons. I have an overall knowledge of the hospital trust’s clinical governance program and participate in implementation.
I am on my way to improving my communication skills by attending training programmers and management courses.

Education

Currently, I am studying MSc. Cardiology at Middlesex University, London. I am always vigilant to update my knowledge in several ways like asking and sharing with colleagues, attending internal and external training, and reading journals and publications. I have registered with BSE as a pre–accredited member and plan to get full adult accreditation as soon as possible while preparing for the theory exam in March 2023.  And I am well aware of BSE standards which will be applied in my echo studies. And now I am learning and trying to understand about NHS healthcare system, guidelines, and protocols, especially in cardiology.
