Millie Steventon

An enthusiastic and hardworking individual with a 2:1 in Psychology at the University of Manchester. Proven to always challenge the boundaries and excel in academic challenges and, more importantly, personal development. Previous experience applying knowledge gained at Univeristy, in the charity ReachOut, Sunrise Care Home, and Alderley Sports Club have not only taught the lifelong skills of patience and perseverance but, more importantly, the value of human connection. Studying Psychology has provided a solid understanding of psychological principles, research methodologies, and the ability to analyse and interpret complex information. It has also driven a profound curiosity about human behaviour and a genuine desire to make a meaningful difference.

Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting and improving the well-being of individuals across different age groups through various roles in both voluntary and professional capacities.

Peer Mentor at ReachOut (2022-2023): 

-Provided guidance and support to children facing various challenges, helping them build confidence, develop resilience, and improve their academic performance. 

-Applied psychological principles in a practical setting, tailoring approaches to meet each child's unique needs. 

-Assisted children from underprivileged backgrounds with their academic and personal development. 

-Utilised strong communication and adaptability skills to address individual student needs. 

Sixth Form Peer Mentor: 

-Supported younger students in organizing their school schedules and solving personal and academic problems. Completed a safeguarding course (levels 1-3) to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

 Volunteer at Alderley Sports Club (2017-2018):

-Organised and led sports events to help children develop confidence, make friends, and work effectively in teams. 

-Demonstrated leadership skills by managing groups of children and ensuring their active participation. 

Floor Worker at Sunrise Care Home (2018-2019): 

-Provided companionship and support to elderly residents, including those with mental health conditions like dementia.

-Organized social activities and ensured a safe environment for residents through active listening and safeguarding practices. 

Various Waitress Roles:

-Developed professional social skills and responsibility through customer service roles at Medicine and South Staffs Golf Club. 

-Learned to manage time effectively and handle high-pressure situations during busy periods.
