About Mounir Barakat:

A passionate and driven individual specialising in the field of Sports Medical Sciences at King’s College London
University.
'
My degree in Sports Medicine as well as my experience in Lifeguarding and working within numerous Public
Health practices have been integral to building a versatile skill set. I believe the knowledge and skills I have
acquired would be invaluably transferred to work within the Sports Medical sector.
I have become a very organised and efficient worker which has allowed me to understand work priorities and
work as a team to give the best possible service to all patients. My devotion to Sports Medicine goes far
beyond
my years of studies, I have a strong desire to help understand developments and new studies in the medical
sector so I can help athletes as I too have 7 years of experience as a competing swimmer nationally.

Experience

Sports Medical Assistant at Claudio, Cattolica

I participated in an Internship at the Cloudio Sports Medical Centre.

  • I was given a room where I gave Spirometry tests to patients under supervision however, after a few days I was able to give the tests to patients on my own.
  • I learnt how to analyse and read the test results and I would report any anomalies to the doctor.
  • I assisted in the 12 lead ECG tests by placing the leads on the patients who were cycling on an ergo-meter bike and the doctor explained the different reading results to me.
  • The greatest thing I learnt from my experience was the importance of the Italian system called "Certificato Medico Sportivo." This is an Italian law which states that any athlete who wishes to compete must pass a series of medical tests to prevent future medical implications. I believe the UK can learn from this law as it could rule out underlying medical conditions and prevent future medical implications.

Education

Sports Exercise Medical Sciences B.Sc (Hons), King's College London

In this course, I've covered essential modules that I enjoyed and believe would be of benefit and that I can utilise when applying for work experience in the Medical and Sports industry.

\have gained a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, nutrition, sport psychology, biomechanics, the principles of exercise science, physiology and extreme physiology. I have developed expertise in assessing athletes' physical capabilities, designing tailored training programs, and analyzing performance data.
