About Neha Agrawal:
My name is Neha Agrawal, and I live in London. Academically, I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Life Science. I completed my PhD in Protein Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from India in 2016. My research focused on understanding the mechanism of chaperone-assisted folding of aggregation-prone recombinant proteins, where I used various biophysical techniques to study how denatured and refolded proteins can be monitored in the presence of chaperones.
For almost two and a half years, I worked in the lab of Professor Sasi Conte at King’s College London as a post of Research Assistant in the area of Protein-RNA Biology. My work aimed to study the structure of RNA-binding proteins and their mode of interaction with RNA to understand their cellular functions.
Experience
I have more than 7 years of research experience in laboratories within the field of life science. Throughout my career, I have acquired a unique combination of technical and analytical skills, alongside experience in managing people and research projects. Over the years, I have mastered a wide variety of experimental techniques and can comfortably operate the latest equipment, utilizing available resources in the most productive ways. In addition to my technical expertise, I possess strong communication and writing skills, which enable me to deliver presentations and write detailed reports. I believe in teamwork and am capable of completing my projects on time.
I possess a comprehensive skill set including recombinant DNA and protein technology, and I have a strong experience in the field of protein characterization and quantification which are as follows:
• expression of recombinant proteins in bacterial cells,
• enzymatic and calorimetric assay of some therapeutic bacterial proteins/enzymes like Maltodextrin Glucosidase, DHFR, Malate synthase G, and Aconitase.
• experience in protein analysis using HPLC, UV spectroscopy, SDS PAGE, Native PAGE.
• experience on some valuable techniques in determining the protein structure, binding affinity and stability like fluorescence spectroscopy, circular dichroism spectroscopy, Thermal Shift Assay, MST, SPR (Biacore).
• experience in proteomics work using ELISA, western blot, co-immunoprecipitation.
• protein purification using chromatographic techniques like affinity, ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction and gel filtration in AKTA FPLC system
Education
I have a degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi where I specialized in Protein Biochemistry, Structural and Molecular Biology, further laying the groundwork for my career in research.
