Neonatal consultant, NHS London

I have 12 years of a diverse range of neonatal experience, both within and outside the U.K. I have worked in 6 tertiary setups in India and 4 tertiary setups in the UK. Currently, I am working as a neonatal consultant at one of the busiest units in London.

Throughout my training, I have demonstrated a commitment to the field of Neonatology and have delivered a high standard of care keeping patient safety at the heart of my practice. 

I have had extensive training in some of the country’s busiest neonatal departments and have managed many complex cases independently both in a transport and intensive care setting. I am confident and competent to perform a wide variety of clinical procedures independently and can teach juniors effectively.

My multi-source feedback is suggestive of effective leadership skills, kind and compassionate behaviour, ability to remain calm during a stressful situation and being a solid team player.  I have recently been awarded the Star award by the Children's outpatient department of Lewisham and Greenwich trust for the same.

I believe in robust governance to improve the service. I have undertaken several quality improvement projects and have also been involved in neonatal research throughout my career as I believe in the future of this speciality. I am committed to improving neonatal service delivery by actively participating in governance by instigating audits and developing guidelines. I am currently the research lead for the AZTEC research trial in the unit.

I am also a certified Neonatal Life Support instructor. This experience has taught me to use a structured approach to neonatal resuscitation and be flexible whilst using my team effectively. 

I’ve attended multiple international and national conferences to consolidate my skills and have taught at several prestigious international conferences and received excellent feedback.

I believe in leadership and it takes me immense pride to mention that I am an ambassador of overseas trainees (MTI) for RCPCH, Vice-Chair of Paediatric Forum of British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin(BAPIO) and Founder and Executive secretary for the association of overseas doctors in the UK(AODUK). Besides, I am also an Ambassador for the National safeguarding team of India (Indian Child abuse, neglect, and child labour), International human rights crime control organization (IHRCCO), Aesthetic  International  Council of Progressive  Women (AICPW), Khadi, and a proud UNICEF volunteer. I have received the award from the Houses of Parliament, London in 2020  for being among the 20 most inspiring Indian women in the UK and the International excellence award from IHRCCO for all my philanthropic activities.
