I am a final-year BSc (Hons) Pharmacology student at Nottingham Trent University with hands-on laboratory experience gained through university modules and projects. For my final-year research project, I conducted a dry lab study investigating adipose tissue changes in mouse mutants. This helped me build skills in data analysis, critical thinking, and tissue research methods. Before studying pharmacology, I completed two years of a nursing degree, gaining valuable hands-on experience in hospital settings. This gave me confidence in working within multidisciplinary teams and taught me how to provide safe, compassionate care to patients. My scientific training and clinical background have prepared me to work effectively in laboratory and healthcare environments. I am now looking to apply these skills and to contribute to meaningful clinical trials in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, Student Nurse (placement)  September 2020-May 2022

During my time as a student nurse, I completed a series of clinical placements across a range of departments, including hepatobiliary/colorectal, surgical, respiratory, HCOP and palliative care. These placements allowed me to develop essential clinical skills such as taking observations, administering medications, supporting personal care, and maintaining accurate documentation. I worked closely with multidisciplinary teams and patients from diverse backgrounds, strengthening my communication, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities in fast-paced healthcare environments. This experience laid a strong foundation in patient-centred care and deepened my commitment to health and wellbeing.

UBU, Newcastle, Support Worker      May 2019 – August 2020

My role as a support worker for people with learning disabilities included administering medications, personal care, writing up daily logs, supporting their hobbies and interests and understanding their communication needs, as the people I used to support were non-verbal. I have also attended mandatory training in various areas such as first aid, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, fire awareness and safe handling of medications.

New Northumbria Hotel, Newcastle, Waitress    September 2018 – June 2019

My role as a waitress enabled me to learn about point-of-sale systems, food safety and allergy, effectively communicate with my colleagues and customers, ability to be calm in a fast-paced environment and develop problem-solving skills, like being able to provide alternative or substitutions of food catered to a customer’s dietary needs. 

The Cairn Hotel Group, Newcastle, Waitress    December 2017 – February 2019

In Relation to my role as a waitress, working as a waitress meant I was to work with a professional manner, providing an exceptional level of service. This level of service required me to provide a friendly and fast service, maintain a level of food and beverages at the buffet, set up the tables in accordance with the ratio, ready for functions, including general seating.
