Nina Denton

My name is Nina I am 23 years old just recently graduated from UAL where I studied costume design for theatre and screen - whilst there I really found a love for design so focused on that mainly throughout my degree. Since graduating I have done graphic design work and social media content creating for a streetwear shop in town called Passenger Outfitters, as well as graphic design work for a company called Creative Spirit in kettering. I am trying to find a full time job where I can continue to grow my practise of design. 

JEFFERY WEST LTD - SHOP ASSISTANT 

I did work experience through sixth form at a local designer shoe brands head offices - Jeffery West. From work experience I gained the opportunity to work in the shop attached to their offices. I worked in the shop by myself where I had to keep the shop floor clean and tidy, arrange stock, sell shoes to customers and work with the web offices to pick, pack and process online orders. I also had to work as a sort of customer services representative alongside all that answering calls and emails with customers queries and working out ways to solve whatever concerns they had.

PASSENGER OUTFITTERS - DESIGN WORK/ MENSWEAR BUYER

I am currently working part time at Passenger Outfitters, I am constantly doing design work for this recently opened streetwear shop in my hometown, Northampton. I designed the logo for the shop when it was first opened and am constantly curating, filming and editing content for their social media and designing marketing for them such as posters and leaflets for the shop as well as any other graphics they need. I also have designed graphics to go on t-shirts for limited t-shirt releases in the shop as well. All of this you will be able to see in my portfolio. I have also been a buyer at Passenger for coming up to 2 years now, I go to all the buying meetings in london and buying shows in Bristol where I look at the brands coming collections for the following year, I have to work as a team with the owners of the shop to forecast and predict trends and what we think will sell well in the shop for the coming season. I also have to be part of the team to communicate with the brands reps and create a relationship between the shop and the reps. 

 THEATRE WORK EXPERIENCE - DRESSER/COSTUME DEPARTMENT

Since graduating I have done some work experience at my local theatre (the Royal & Derngate) in the costume departments helping with costuming before, after and during the shows. I helped with jobs such as fixing costumes, pre-setting them for the show and helping with quick changes during the show. I worked on two productions - The Commitments and Strictly Ballroom. 

CREATIVE SPIRIT - GRAPHIC DESIGN

I have done some work experience recently at creative sprit - a graphic design company - which has been great for me to learn to refine my skills with digital drawing and design on programmes such as adobe suite. They are also a company that specialise in print, exhibitions and construction which are things I also got to be involved in the process of during my work experience period.
