Dear Hiring Manager

I am a recent University graduate with a journalism degree from London South Bank University in August 2023. I am applying for the post of Retail Sales Assistant with BeBees Professionals as I have previously had experience with the Royal Horticultural Society and JD Sports in Bluewater and McDonald's in Peckham. I enjoyed the challenges of working in retail as I can fully utilize my skills. In this experience, I acquired skills which include, communication skills, patience, and teamwork. I consider myself a good person who is humble, considerate, always willing to help others, and friendly with people. I am a reliable and punctual person who has good attention and does not get distracted. If accepted for the post at BeBees Professionals, I’d be able to show off my already existing skills in the job and I’ll be able to learn more when in the role and make new friends. 

I am confident in making and answering customer telephone calls as I’ve had experience doing this at home where I’ve had to answer calls. My other skills include using different Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Access having had time to use these at school and home. I’m very adaptable as I can change situations when given different tasks. I can communicate well with customers by changing my style to meet the individuals’ level of communication, by using verbal and non-verbal forms of communication, such as active listening skills, silence, observing their body language, and paraphrasing. I have developed the skills to manage my academic studies and family life simultaneously. This has allowed me to improve my time management skills by meeting strict deadlines for assignments, helping my brother with homework, and helping with house chores. I have attained significant achievements: a Grade B in History and a Grade C in English Language and Maths. I also achieved a Level Three Grade Merit Pass in Multimedia Journalism when completing the BTEC Level Three Multimedia Journalism course between 2017 and 2019. Other achievements include being nominated by my school for my poem at the Royal Albert Hall 2009.   

My hobbies include watching TV and playing video games with my friends whenever I have free time. I also enjoy being with my family as we can do things together and keep good company. In addition, I enjoy reading books and newspapers because they help improve my English and because it’s fun and exciting. Finally, I like to use the computer as I can do research and do any work related to school. My experience demonstrates my interest in working in this role. I therefore feel that I have the required skills for this Job and would appreciate it if I am allowed to do so. I hope to hear from you soon.

I currently work with Sephora in Bluewater as a Sales Assistant. I also  have several years of retail and customer service experience, having worked at stores including Crowne Plaza in Kings Cross, McDonalds’ fast-food restaurant in Peckham, JD Sports Bluewater branch as a sales assistant, and Royal Horticultural Society Bluewater branch as a retail assistant. 

London Southbank University: Studied BA Journalism from 2020–2023 and achieved BA Honours 2:2 grade.
