Panagiotis Baras

Hello,
I'm Panos, an avid illustrator, graphic designer and storyboard artist based in Glasgow. I like getting messy with different media and try to avoid visual comfort zones. Sometimes I also do animations and sound-reactive visuals for concerts. I have a long experience in many fields, from working within the printing industry to concept visualisation for research and marketing companies. At the moment I enjoy working a lot with musicians on album covers and sound-reactive visuals for gigs and performances.

Creative & Production Artworker 

I joined as a Creative Artworker but soon my role expanded into production. I am working a lot with large format flatbed printers, Summa cutters and engraving machines. At the moment I am designing and expanding the company’s products catalogue working closely with the marketing/sales team.

I was part of a wonderful team that supported people with learning difficulties in a uniquely creative and engaging environment. I was trying to engage with them in activities that would spur their stimuli - weaving, painting, ceramics and music workshops. 

Freelancer Illustrator, Storyboard artist and Graphic Designer (2017 - present)

Illustrator, Graphic Designer/Creative Artwoker. 

My most recent work is multidisciplinary, revolving around illustration, a bit of animation, graphic design, sound-reactive moving image and leaning towards a more fine-arts approach. I have been working with theatre producers and music artists and I create artwork for posters, album covers, audio-reactive visuals for concerts and music videoclips. 

Copymade (Edinburgh) 2010 - 2017 

Studio manager, Graphic designer, Illustrator 

I successfully managed multiple projects at a time and had to keep an eye on the big picture while taking care of the finer details. This involved being the guardian of almost all work leaving the studio, following the brand guidelines, making sure that we were meeting the deadlines and working closely with printers, technicians, finishers and paper suppliers. The client list included names such as Edinburgh Science Festival, Social Bite, Kiltwalk, Bertram Nursery schools, Winning Scotland Foundation, National Galleries, and The Fringe. 

Firefly Millward Brown-Research International 2005 - 2010 

Illustrator, Package designer, Storyboard artist. 

I worked closely with market researchers, strategic analysts and focus groups on developing new concepts by using marketing communications tools. This involved brainstorming with the groups, analysing their briefs and quickly visualising the ideas through drawn illustrations. I was able to effectively translate abstract and semi-formed concepts into concrete and workable forms. The client list included Coca-Cola, British American Tobacco, Vodafone, Pepsi, JTI and Smirnoff vodka. Our focus was on new marketing approaches such as new packaging ideas, TV commercials, refreshed brand identities or completely new projects.
