I have always been a massive fan of Waterstones and of course, drag everyone to the cafes very often. I have experience as a Barista at Starbucks and previous 2+ years serving at Olive Garden. While reviewing the job requirements and your website, I was excited to see that my qualifications and personal traits align wonderfully with your requirements.  I bring a set of talents that I believe will be valuable to Waterstones. While working at Starbucks, I learned how to craft a multitude of different coffees. I have 2+ years of experience handling cash registers and 3 years in customer service. I am excited to contribute my strengths and the ability to learn and grow to your team efforts. As a personable communicator with a proven track record in hospitality, building warm relationships has always been my main goal. I also love literature, which is why I'm taking English Literature at the University of Glasgow. Not only will I be able to recommend coffees straight off the bat with my previous training, but great books as well. :)

Hi, I'm Alex (she/her). I started working at Olive Garden as a host, then a To-Go Specialist when I turned 17. I worked there for two years helping train new hires, taking food orders in person/over the phone, delivering catering orders, crafting drinks, preparing food, setting tables, managing wait lists, difficult customers, etc... My main goal is always to ensure everyone has the best experience possible. You never know what is happening in someone's life, so I always greet people warmly and openly, whether they have a complaint about something or a compliment. I then moved to work at Starbucks to expand my workplace knowledge, and loved it. I genuinely enjoy crafting coffees and making little latte art. I memorized the menu and all our recipes back to front, so I'm already trained in the preparation and making of most types of coffees, including but not limited to cappuccinos, flat whites, lattes, mochas, frappuccinos, refresher drinks, drip-coffee, cold brew, shaken-espressos, tea lattes, etc... In the two months I was there I quickly learned all our regulars (sometimes every day!) preferred coffees, which was fun to match the different recipes to them. Once again I believe the most important goal is to make people feel warm and welcomed as often as you can. I left Starbucks when I got a golden opportunity to become a counselor for a children's (ages 5-13) summer camp in my local town. I had a wonderful time helping organize lessons and craft-plans every day. Here, as with anywhere, I had to deal with one or two conflicts, sometimes between kids or other counselors or parents. My experience in conflict resolution from my previous two jobs greatly benefited me in resolving any tension that popped up. I mainly worked with the 5-7 year old's, taking them to the local pools once a week and field trips to the Zoo, trampoline parks, skating rinks, etc... My favorite part was seeing how each individual kid came up with something totally creative and fun when given crafting tools and a bit of a lesson plan. :)

I am currently a first year student at the University of Glasgow. I have a GED (High School Graduate Diploma) from the United States, getting all but two A's. My weighted GPA was 4.2. I'm currently studying for a Joint Honours Master of Arts in English and Sociology.
