About Parthiban Bhanusun:
I'm a driven Credit Control Assistant on the path to becoming a fully qualified accountant. With a solid foundation in finance and a first-class Honors degree in Business and Management (Accounting) from Brunel University London in 2022, I'm now part-qualified with ACCA, with just five exams remaining before I achieve my goal. My determination and commitment to professional growth are unwavering, and I'm dedicated to completing the remaining exams by the end of 2024. I'm excited about the journey ahead and eager to contribute my skills and knowledge to the world of finance.
Experience
I currently work as a credit control assistant and this role has allowed me to develop extensive knowledge in using Xero and Microsoft Office applications(especially Excel). The role also allowed me to develop my knowledge of accounting. This role helped me to build my multi-tasking skills as I had to carry out multiple tasks at a time such as updating the expected payments report or age debtors report while communicating with clients regarding payment plans. I also developed my negotiation skills as I had to negotiate payment plans with clients. Other skills I have developed with this role include communication, time management, and relationship building.
Education
As a business and management (accounting) graduate with first-class honours from Brunel University, I have learned the various aspects of the accounting profession. This program helped me develop my analytical, interpersonal, and technical skills. Multiple modules in the degree were accredited by professional bodies such as CIMA, ACCA, and ICAEW. The degree also allowed me to develop my IT skills by allowing me to have experience using software such as Microsoft Excel and Sage.
Modules such as MG3600 Auditing and Assurance gave me in-depth knowledge of the life of an auditor. It taught me how auditors assess risks associated with financial statements, gather evidence and report their findings. It also gave me exposure to fraud and forensic accounting. From this module, I also learned the auditor’s role in the corporate governance of a business, how to evaluate information systems and assess the risk of error or fraud, and how to gather sufficient, appropriate evidence to offer assurance on company statements.
I also completed a module called MG3027 Taxation. This module gave me exposure to income tax, corporation tax, capital gains tax, and VAT from an individual and business perspective. It also allowed me to get an understanding of the social, economic, environmental, and ethical considerations and challenges in designing the UK tax system. From this module, I developed an understanding of the government's role in developing policies of taxation, an appreciation of economic legal, ethical, environmental, and accounting aspects of taxation, a practical and updated knowledge in areas of taxation which is important for individuals and businesses. I also developed analytical and problem-solving skills to address tax-planning issues for individuals and businesses, technical expertise for the production of tax computations leading to the preparation of tax for both individuals and businesses.
The program exposed me to modules such as MG3077 Strategic Financial Management which allowed me to learn key concepts of investment management and how to use financial data in a business context. It allowed me to learn how to evaluate investment opportunities using different methods, compare various dividend policies, value potential takeover targets (including the mechanisms of mergers and acquisitions), and calculate the portfolio risk and returns amongst many more useful topics regarding investment.
