After reviewing the outline for this position, I am confident that my Scientific educational background (Postgraduate High School Education, Master of Science, Bachelor of Science and Subject Knowledge Enhancement), alongside my 4 years’ teaching experience in high school academic teaching roles, provides an excellent platform of strengths for the role.

 

As someone who has worked in high achieving, mainstream, community, and Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools, I have developed a highly individualized educational repertoire, and am able to engage students across the entire academic spectrum, and as such my students consistently surpass expectations. At the heart of my teaching, is a true passion for science; and it is through passion and enjoyment that I encourage and enable students to develop their own critical thinking and research skills, as well as accountability for their own academic performance.

 

My methods have been proven to quantifiably increase classroom engagement, home study completion rates, and gradual increases in grade projections through the academic year. My wide array of classroom activities ensures that no student is left behind, and I foster a collaborative learning environment that addresses and includes multiple learning styles.

 

As an experienced educator, I have carefully honed my approach to student feedback, and know the importance of taking a tailored approach for different learning and personality profiles. It is crucial to know which students will respond to formal, structured feedback, as much as it is to understand that this approach can add layers of pressure to students who prefer a lighter touch. Ultimately, proactively including students within the feedback loop, in a way they respond positively to, is absolutely crucial to a positive educational experience.

 

Beyond the classroom, I thoroughly enjoy engaging in the culture of the schools I work within, and I take great pride in the rapport and collaborative methods I pursue with other academic staff, parents, and school administrators. In particular, building relationships with parents provides fundamental insights into a student’s home environment, the expectations and atmosphere in which they spend their time outside of school, and these insights, combined with a tailored learning approach, are a proven recipe for success.

 

In summary, I possess the preferred scientific qualifications, have 4 years high school teaching experience, and can demonstrate my commitment to ongoing professional development, having taken a specialist qualification in high school teaching, and a subject knowledge enhancement year. On anti-bias and anti-racist, I myself am part of the minority group, and have proven experience in delivering quality teaching with SEN students.
