Services offered
From my initial BA honours degree in Applied Linguistics/English at York to the PGCE at the Department of Education in Cambridge and subsequent teaching, examining, mentoring and leading, I have felt my calling to be that of leader, facilitator and communicator. I have taught English, Drama, Theatre Studies and ESL/EFL. As a linguist, I have a strong love for words and the art of rhetoric in exploring persuasive tone, thereby equipping young people to communicate with aplomb. I enjoy several sports: notably football, cricket and squash. Ipswich Town is my team. I have a good crack at cryptic crosswords; write short stories; adore earl grey tea and my favourite holiday spot is the Gower. I have been known to play electric bass in a barn dance band and appreciate an eclectic range of musical tastes.
Experience
I have taught English, Drama, Theatre Studies and ESL/EFL through the 5-18 age and ability range in many school settings, both in the private and public sectors. This has been with children and subsequently, with HE students and adult learners. I feel I have a keen eye for detail and pursuing excellence and have sought to be a clear practitioner in all that I have accomplished.
