About Rose King:
I am a hard-working and dedicated individual with a proven track record of working effectively in a team and independently where required. I have accumulated a wide range of technical knowledge and experience through day-to-day problem solving in a busy IT department and through the many successful projects I have led and been involved in.
Working as part of a helpdesk-oriented IT department, my current duties are varied and include troubleshooting and resolving support requests from students, staff and external people within the college community such as governors and visitors. I have also taken the lead on a projects, these have included a Managed Print Solution and Digitial Signage.
Experience
IT Support Technician: Loreto Sixth Form College, Manchester; June 1998 to Present
As part of my role as an IT support technician, I have led and worked on numerous projects and tasks. Most recently we have been focusing on the following:
* Planet eStream - we migrated to the cloud. Making the support and updating of the system easier for us. The migration of systems to the cloud is in line with the department’s development plan and roadmap.
* Took the lead in implementing a Managed Print Solution (MPS) - after years of purchasing consumables and repairing printers, we are finally utilising the support provided from having an MPS in place. I lead the investigation in to how we were using our fleet, what was available and what would work for us.
* Digital Signage - whilst leading this project I worked closely with a supplier. We investigated two systems and choose the system that worked best for us. We now have screens that are bigger and brighter. This is also delivered from the cloud.
General (day-to-day) duties:
- Support both staff and students with the use of IT equipment
- Azure / Active Directory and Office 365
- Log and respond to service desk requests
- Procurement
- Creation and update of user guides and documentation
- Print and access enable ID cards
- Access Control System
- Asset Management
- Setting up and supporting of equipment for internal use, external speakers and examinations
- Veeam Backup – to restore work lost/deleted by staff and students
- Evolving working knowledge of PowerShell
