Ruth Dunstan

I have graduated from the University of Law with a Distinction graded LPC. I studied optional modules in Family Law, Employment Law, Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence, and Immigration Law. Prior to this, I graduated with First class honours in a History BA and a Distinction in MA Law.

 I am passionate about enabling access to justice and ensuring individuals are aware of their rights. I have a background of working with vulnerable individuals in my role as a charity Project Assistant at a food bank and drop-in centre, as a Paralegal working on asylum claims and as a Student advisor at the University of Bristol law clinic (during my MA Law course). These experiences have given me valuable legal experience, developed my listening and practical skills, and confirmed my ambition to train as a solicitor. 

I have worked as a Paralegal/ Legal Assistant at SI Legal Services where I worked on asylum claims and applications for leave to remain. 

I have also worked as a Student Advisor at the University of Bristol law clinic, where I worked on family law and housing law cases. 

I volunteered as a Legal Affairs Intern at the charity Afghanistan and Central Asian Association, where I helped run the pro-bono law clinic and provide support to vulnerable individuals.

I am currently employed as Project Assistant (Administration and Communications) at The Olive Branch, an independent charity which serves as a food bank and drop in centre.

All of these roles have involved working first hand with vulnerable individuals who had limited knowledge of their legal rights and processes.

Legal Practice Course LLM (University of Law, 2022-2023) - Distinction. I undertook optional modules in Family Law, Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence, Employment Law and Immigration Law as well as a Professional Practice Research Report and oral presentation on the impact of the introduction of ‘no fault’ divorce.
