About Ryan McGregor:

Strong self-driven work ethic who is enthusiastic, ambitious, and resourceful, with an excellent ability to learn and adapt to roles faster than others. A history of surpassing expectations and achieving goals that have been set with a proven track record of being requested to complete important tasks or projects from the beginning phase to the end while maintaining healthy and strong relationships with management and clients.

Throughout my career, I have mostly worked in permanent and contracted roles in a variety of different sectors, as I am someone who enjoys expanding their skills and knowledge. As of 2023, I have started to prioritize short-term contracts as I relish challenging myself and assisting clients in their time of need. So far, this has been mainly assisting the NHS on a 3-to-6-month basis.

Towards the end of 2023, I have decided that I would like to pursue a career in project management. I have currently assisted with a project for the NHS back in February 2023, which was known as the Digital Health Programme Project (which was awarded £10 million back in 2019/2020). We launched the project successfully, and in November, I gained an Agile Project Management certification from Google along with other skills such as business analysis and process management, as well as a certification for an intelligence analyst.

I am looking to start in any sector at an entry or junior level, which will pave my way into a career as a project manager.

Experience

Complaints Officer.

NHS – June 2023 – October 2023.

Contracted to assist the complaints side with the NHS on a 3-month basis, a 2-month contract extension was then triggered for this role due to performance and pressure within the team. The duty of a complaints officer was to investigate reported issues by patients or relatives of someone who had attended a hospital with the Northern Care Alliance (NCA). The role entailed creating and pursuing open investigations, managing caseloads, issuing the investigations and deadlines to medical directorates and governance bodies, along with attending meetings with medical directorates and governance teams to discuss the case at hand.

  • Experience with using Data Risk Management System (DATIX) and CSC Patient Center. The experience with DATIX was mainly the incident side of DATIX.

  • Managing an average of 20 to 30 cases a month, which consisted of maintaining active communication by phone, email, or face-to-face visits with each of the patients or relatives of the raised incident cases, along with actively communicating with medical directorates and governance bodies. Achieved an average of 87.5% KPI.

  • Within the first two weeks, performance and skills were noticed by management. Requested to assist with multiple hospitals, Salford Royal Hospital and Royal Oldham Hospital. Offered a permanent position one month into my contract and requested to extend my current contract for a further two months.

Business Change.

NHS – Dec 2022 – April 2023.

Contracted to assist the Royal Oldham Hospital on a 3–6-month basis in identifying all current problems that existed on the wards (this could be potential data breaches, security risks, or critical issues that could put a patient's life in danger) and once identified, helping resolve those situations so that they would not reach critical stages. During this process of identifying all the existing problems, it was also my responsibility to bridge the gap and become the main communication between the doctors and nurses to management and higher to express concerns, what was needed, and to fix potential problems found on the wards. During this contracted period, I was also requested by the Head of Business Change in February 2023 to assist with part of the Digital Health Programme project (a £10 million pound project), which was to deliver a new program of digital health technology and electronic patient pathways.

  • Identified an average of 40 to 50 issues per month at Royal Oldham Hospital; this consisted of potential data breaches, security risks, or critical issues that could put a patient's life in danger and could impact the wards severely. I had a success rate of over 90% in resolving all identified issues, with the only open and pending issues being discovered late in April, which was the end of my contract, so they could not be resolved in time.

  • Requested to assist with pushing out the implementation of BadgerNet as part of the Digital Health Program project. This was to cover the entire side of maternity, which also involved wards such as NICU. I was tasked with helping to change the culture between the old methods used and the new ones to come (Going from paperless notes to fully digital), along with auditing each of the wards and identifying if there were any existing problems with the current equipment located on the wards that would potentially need replacing during the implementation phase of the project. Delivered and integrated over 100 to 200 pieces of technical equipment consisting of laptops, Ergotron arms stands, iPads, desktop computers, and smart TV screens.

  • Requested to audit the entire hospital site of Royal Oldham Hospital. This was produced, completed within two days, and delivered personally to the head of business so that they could use it for future projects. The audit produced was a list of all the buildings and wards within the site, along with other information, as the last audit that was on record was outdated and done a few years ago.

Customer Service Advisor.

NSL – Aug. 2021 – Dec 2022.

Customer Service Advisor assigned to the Waltham Forest area (London-based contract). It was my responsibility to review customer disputes against traffic and on-street-related traffic violations, including clamp and car-pound-related cases. This would consist mainly of reviewing CCTV footage of the contravention and photos taken by speed cameras, and once reviewed and determined if a contravention did occur, deciding to uphold or dismiss the case and writing letters to those challenging it, informing them why the decision was made and informing them of the contravention that occurred.

  • I was recommended by Dingwall (Scotland’s department) in September 2022 to become the Quality Assurance Officer for Waltham Forest contract as the position became available. Scotland's Department requested I fill that position due to my knowledge, helping other members who might be struggling with the contract or need help determining the correct outcome, along with my professional handling.

  • Acknowledged by the clients and management teams across multiple sites in October 2022 and requested by the clients to deal with all of Waltham Forest Borough’s appeals for the contract, which has never happened for NSL in its history. This would consist of building evidence packs to put forward to a London adjudicator.

  • The contract target was 30 cases a day. I personally achieved and completed an average of 50 to 60 a day.

Vaccine Administrator.

NHS – May 2021 – Aug. 2021.

Contracted to assist the NHS on a 3-month basis during the pandemic of the Corona virus to ensure that the vaccination was delivered correctly to those in need. The main responsibility of this role was to ensure that the whole of Oldham and Rochdale received their first and second doses of the vaccination. This was the AZ Oxford and Pfizer vaccinations.

  • Managed patients belonging to the Rochdale and Oldham using programs such as QDOC and QHealth. Assisted with issuing the first and second doses of AZ Oxford and Pfizer vaccinations in the UK.

Engineer and Electro Polisher.

Constant Group – Sep. 2018 – Dec 2018.

Recommended by an internal source within this company, I originally joined as a grinder to cut types of materials to create or aid mainly construction projects, but later became one of the main electrochemical polishers for the company.

  • Assigned to electrochemical finish fragile or complex geometries products produced, this would be the very end stage of removing all burn marks that could be found and making the product look new and fresh. The main product was part of a contract for the McLarens F1 Team, which on average was in the range of £20,000–£40,000 per product.

Business Administrator, Auditor, and Invigilator.

East Cheshire Training and Assessment (ECTA) – Jan. 2016 – Dec. 2016.

I was hired as a business administrator to assist with making sure the business ran effectively and efficiently. ECTA is the leading provider of gas, plumbing, electric, smart meters, and multi-skilled trade courses in the UK.

  • Within the first three months, I became an auditor and invigilator for the company, along with my initial role as a business administrator. Regularly invigilated British Gas workers.

  • Produced audits for companies such as G4S, Richmondshire Council, and many others.
