Salian Jewel Sesay

Hello, my name is Salian Jewel Sesay and I hold both a degree in Public Health and a certificate in Pharmacy Assistance. Throughout my professional career, I have remained dedicated to improving healthcare and creating positive changes that enhance both individuals' well-being and that of communities as a whole.

Brigham Young University-Idaho awarded me my Bachelor of Public Health. Throughout my studies, I gained an in-depth knowledge of different aspects of public health such as epidemiology, healthcare systems and health promotion. My passion lies in discovering innovative solutions to address public health challenges while simultaneously encouraging wellness.

With my Public Health degree and Pharmacy Assistant Certification program behind me, I gained practical knowledge about pharmaceuticals and patient care - giving me a distinct edge when connecting public health initiatives with pharmaceutical interventions.

As a Pharmacy Assistant, I gained hands-on experience with medication management, patient counselling, and ensuring safe and effective use of medications. I take great pride in communicating complex medical information to my patients in an understandable and compassionate way.

Working for a non-governmental organization (NGO) deepened my commitment to public health. While with them, I provided women and girls with menstrual hygiene solutions as well as health education. I collected data regarding pre and post-usage of the menstrual kit, assisted with recruiting support staff and volunteers, and coordinated volunteer identification when required. I also supervised the work of technical staff and collaborated with the CEO, staff, donors, and partners to prepare activity and annual reports for submission to donors and partners. Working alongside my dedicated team, I addressed public health issues in underserved communities by using my public health knowledge and pharmacy experience to make an impactful difference in people's lives.

Out of work, my passions include fashion design, meeting people, learning new things, and staying motivated. I believe in the power of education, community engagement and advocacy to drive positive change and seek opportunities to contribute my efforts toward these causes.

As a dedicated public health professional with extensive pharmacy assistant experience, my commitment to improving healthcare outcomes and making an impactful contribution towards human and environmental well-being is always foremost in my mind.

Throughout my career, I have served in roles related to my qualifications in healthcare facilities, non-governmental agencies, community health organizations and retail pharmacies. These roles included public health program management, health education, data analysis, patient counselling as well as prescription processing and administration support services.

My combination of education and hands-on experience make me an invaluable asset in the healthcare industry. My extensive knowledge of public health issues and pharmacy operations sets me apart as an experienced resource who can aid efforts aimed at improving community health, patient safety and overall quality healthcare services.

Bachelor of Public Health graduates benefit from a broad-based education that encompasses fundamental subjects in biology, chemistry, statistics and social sciences. Alongside this foundational knowledge, they also gain a thorough knowledge of public health concepts such as disease prevention, health promotion, epidemiology, environmental health systems and global health.
