I work with some of the world's top innovative consumer brands to deliver creative, results-driven copy that connect them to customers who embrace life’s adventures and experiences.

Through work with motorsport, technology, drinks, hospitality and lifestyle brands I have amassed considerable skills and knowledge to become expert in communicating brand messages and tone of voice to the kind of audiences that I, as a consumer, understand intimately. From small teams to large organisations, I am always seeking new challenges and connections with cutting-edge brands who do things differently.

I am highly creative, a strong team player and very passionate about my work. I like to see tangible results and as an achiever and a doer, I'm not afraid to go above and beyond to get the job done.

With the onset of the Covid pandemic I embraced involuntary redundancy and began freelancing, delivering the same excellent standard of communications I have become expert in. Across a range of services utilising my varied comms skills I have had the chance to work with diverse clients across industries from motorsport to technology and education. Current copywriting work for brands such as Yamaha Motor, MIPS and CAKE have kept me on the pulse of motorcycle trends, along with motorsport work in BSB, WorldSBK and off-road via Yamaha’s YXZ1000R SuperFinale.

Sol & Matheson Communications (May 2019 – September 2020)

Racing Content Manager & Copywriter 

Sol &Matheson Communications are a Netherlands public relations agency, providing reputation management, campaign design, media production and creative communications to a range of brands. My role focused on marketing/social media support for main client Yamaha Motor Europe and Yamaha Racing, Öhlins, CAKE Bikes, TomTom, Beyond Meat and a variety of other technology, auto/moto and lifestyle brands. Core duties included:

Curating Yamaha Racing content on yamaharacing.com, including news articles, mailings and photo galleries for Yamaha presence in MotoGP, SBK, EWC, bLU cRU, YXZ1000R series

Writing excellent copy and content inventory for client brands including print and digital media such as press releases, magazines, blogs, web copy and advertisements

Developing engaging weekend social media content for Yamaha international racing series, including in- depth monthly analysis of all channels to improve deliverables and grow audiences

Press Officer duties including media liaison & coordination for racing and Yamaha Europe press events

Using excellent planning and management skills to budget and deliver client projects

Biggest achievements:

Writing all copy for the 2021 Yamaha Motor Europe internal magazine, Yamaha & YOU. A mammoth project involving much research and interviews, but I am immensely proud of how well it was received by the client

Planning and delivering a comms plan for the Yamaha YXZ1000R Cup in 2019 that saw me covering over20 drivers and teams from different countries. I designed filming plans, social media content, press releases and conducted video interviews to give the event (in its first high-profile iteration) substantial returns on the event on social media and traditional media outlets. I was proud to deliver strong viewing figures on a weekend that conflicted with bigger and more renowned race series elsewhere.

 

Shaun Muir Racing Ltd (October 2015 – November 2018)

Press Officer & Coordinator

Shaun Muir Racing Ltd (SMR) is a professional British motorcycle racing team. They won the British Superbike Championship in 2011 and 2015, and in 2016 began competing in the World Superbike Championship. My role was very diverse and covered operations across the whole organisation, chiefly involving public relations and international logistics management. Core duties included:

Coordinating internal and external team communications, media schedules, rider communications, press liaison and producing press releases

Hosting exciting fan engagement activities such as signings, rider meet and greets and garage tours

Activating partner and sponsor relationships to deliver budget increases and increased brand awareness

Budgeting and costings of all team travel movements to improve efficiency and reduce costs. I delivered cost cutting year upon year after negotiating travel and accommodation discounts. Production and distribution of team itineraries. Processing of staff visas, personal data and expenses, logistics, ferry bookings and documentation for truck drivers

World Superbike events and Isle of Man TT races:

Co-managing WorldSBK and TT hospitality front of house, VIP accreditation, brochure production, unit set up and staff management to deliver a highly efficient and enjoyable event

Hosting fun and informative WorldSBK rider presentations, conducting live interviews with riders and team personnel for VIPs

Managing VIP travel budgets and bookings, accommodation and itineraries

Build crew member and set up of WorldSBK and TT hospitality units

Serving as point of information for guest enquiries and producing guest itineraries for guests

 

Biggest achievements:

Designing all communications, social media channels and websites for the team from scratch single- handed, with no predecessor to learn from. The role was entirely self-taught and I truly made it my own.

Budgeting, planning and executing a week trip to the USA for 30 UK sponsor VIPS, including flights, hotels and entertainment. The event was very well received and I was commended for my efficiency and communication

 

Launch PR (November 2018)

Internship, campaign assistant

I worked with the Launch PR team during their launch of the Hyundai NEXO campaign, involving media outreach and significant hands-on time with the NEXO during London journalist tours and data gathering exercises
