Samantha Elston

An entry-level candidate, whether I am in the classroom, out on set, or meet socially with friends and colleagues, you will find me to be polite, friendly, and self-motivated and people will warm to my personality.

As a graduate in the creative industry, I have gained the skills and experience to take forward this next step. On both a professional and personal level, I have shown that I am dependable, honest, and understanding. I will be able to give positive thought and feedback towards new projects and challenges. I am able to use my own initiative and work productively within a team. I also have transferable skills from my experience in retail and leadership, from where I supported and encouraged young people with life skills. I've recently been involved as a Stand-In for the Great British Menu and bar staff for festival/events assisting.

I have held customer service facing roles within retail, 2 were with major departmental stores.  My first role was whilst I was at university was working as seasonal staff at Next plc, where my duties included front of house customer service, telephone liaison for stock availability, stock replenishment and communicating with shoppers to ensure that they received the best possible store experience. My second role in retail was at Primark, again this was a seasonal position and after the contract ended, I was successful at obtaining a permanent part time position whilst still carrying out my studies.  I have also held part time bar staff positions in hospitality at B- Music within Symphony Hall and Birmingham Town, carrying out bar work, food handling and cash handling.  Ensuring the bar areas are clean and maintaining taps and replenishing fridges and shelves. 

For Away Resorts, My role as Entertainment Host involved organising and leading activity session including Aerts and crafts and sport days on the sports field including basketball and football and helping organise events which included  Custard Pie festival, Outdoor cinema, Colour throw festival, encouraging families to be involved with the events, and creating a fun atmosphere, lots of messy fun. I was Pa of the front desk, taking in bookings for the activities, meeting and greeting the guest.  

I graduated from university in 2020, with a BA Hons in Creative Film production, where I have gained numerous opportunities working with contributors throughout the West Midlands.  I was fortunate to work at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games as assistant camera operator.
