• Conduct Magnetic Activated Cell Sorting of CD138+, CD3+, CD33+ and CD19+
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures accurately for all laboratory duties.
• Culture postnatal and oncology patient samples (blood and bone marrow).
• Conduct manual and robotic cytogenetic harvests.
• Laboratory housekeeping: checking and ordering stocks, batch records.
• Duty Technologist, checking and assigning tests to patient samples.

Thermo Fisher Scientific :                                                                                                        

  Title: Summer Intern                             

• Conduct an ELISA test of Fab antibody.
• Demonstration of Optilite for detection of Multiple Myeloma.
• Pack and run an ion exchange chromatography column.
• Demonstration of Tecan and mass spectrometers.

University of Sheffield:

Title: Clinical Pre-screening Team for karyotype analysis                                                                                    

• Complete pre-karyotyping competence.
• Identify and accurately cut out chromosomes using Cytovision software.
• Karyotype bone marrow samples from Sheffield’s Children’s Hospital.
• Flag any abnormalities to supervisor e.g Philadelphia Chromosome t(9:22) consistent with CML.
