About Samuel Wightwick:
I am a recent Multimedia Journalism graduate, now looking to build on everything that I have learned and apply it to a professional organisation. I have developed myself as a writer and a journalist throughout my degree creating many written, video, and online stories that I have developed independently. I have written stories on topics such as politics and current affairs, to movies and sport. I have used a variety of Adobe editing software to create these pieces to a high standard.
I am a very hard working and conscientious person, who works well as a member of any team as well as being highly motivated to achieve goals alone. I am organised, confident and a good communicator. I have confidence in my own ability and I am willing to learn from other people’s strengths.
Experience
Previously, I have worked at Victim Support, which involved me supporting victims of crime both practically and emotionally. I had to learn quickly and adapt to different situations as no two cases were ever the same. The job also allowed me to develop my multitasking and organisational skills whilst working to very tight deadlines to support as many clients as possible that required urgent help. I worked independently and collaboratively to support each client to satisfactory conclusions. The job involved lots of networking and communicating with different charities, housing associations and the police; so, people skills were essential. I was based in a small office which involved lots of picking up small jobs that weren’t necessarily yours but needed doing such as sending out the mail or fixing the printer. I loved Cooperating and providing support and advice to my colleagues when they needed it too. I also took on a volunteer training role, helping new volunteers get up to speed and training them to be able to use our case management systems.
Education
I have an undergraduate degree in Sociology and Criminology. Most recently, I have just completed my master’s degree at the University of Kent in multimedia journalism (expecting to have my graduation in November) whilst also completing my NCTJ diploma alongside it.
