Engineering / Architecture
About Shea Morris:
I’m a final-year MEng (Hons) Chemical and Process Engineering student at the University of Surrey, driven by a passion for solving real-world engineering challenges through innovation, analytical thinking, and collaboration. With hands-on experience leading complex academic projects, such as running a pilot plant, designing an ammonia production facility, and researching novel catalysts for plastic waste reforming, I bring both technical expertise and proven leadership skills to the table.
My academic journey has been consistently recognised through multiple university-wide awards for highest performance, and I am now seeking to apply my skills in a graduate role where I can take ownership of impactful projects, continue developing my leadership capabilities, and work towards Chartered Engineer status.
Outside of engineering, I enjoy staying active through football and cycling, playing the guitar, and reading about technology and sustainability. I’m always open to connecting with fellow professionals, engineers, and recruiters who share a passion for innovation and positive impact.
Experience
I have a strong foundation in chemical and process engineering developed through a range of academic, research, and industry experiences. My university projects include leading a pilot plant operation, contributing to an ammonia plant design, and conducting original research on electrocatalysts for sustainable hydrogen production from plastic waste. I have also gained hands-on lab experience during a research internship, supported a PhD project, and worked in customer-facing roles at Aldi, demonstrating reliability, teamwork, and resilience in high-pressure environments. These roles have honed my technical, problem-solving, and leadership skills, preparing me for a successful transition into a graduate engineering role.
Education
I have recently completed an MEng (Hons) in Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Surrey, graduating in July 2025. My studies have provided a strong foundation in core areas such as fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, process design, control, and optimisation. I have also completed major design and research projects, including leading a pilot plant operation and conducting original research into novel catalysts for the electrochemical valorisation of plastic waste to hydrogen. My academic performance has been recognised with multiple awards for achieving the highest overall grades in each year of study.
