Shivangi Vasudeva

a furniture designer with a knack for product styling, social media marketing and technical knowledge in furniture, eager to elevate sales through innovative design and marketing strategies. I freelance in multi-disciplinary design fields as well as management. I have had an extensive and versatile experience in fields like management, social media, product and graphic design and furniture production. I believe these skill sets give me an edge and knowledge to excel in different fields. I'm a confessed hard worker and quick learner and proficient in communicating in English. 

As a designer, I've always been intrigued by furniture and how much emotional intelligence goes into making it. This inspired me to work with Josmo Studio, a furniture design firm founded by RISD alumna Ms Anjali Mody. Over 2 years, I engaged in diverse projects, from a carbon-zero campus to Memphis-themed furniture. This honed my meticulous approach, pivotal when I became the sole designer amidst pandemic-induced downsizing. Seamlessly bridging production and management, I led key tasks like Josmo's Annual Catalogue and the ergonomic workstation – Habitus. I also worked extensively as their Retail Assistant and worked in their store to manage sales, handle clients for interior projects as well as walk-ins to elevate customer experience. My knowledge in furniture technicalities helped in understanding customer requirements very well.

Working with Belgium's eco-conscious brand, IWAS, further solidified my commitment to ethics-infused design. Crafting products from discarded materials like tires, jute bags, and beer bottles, my designs, such as transforming detergent packets into chic shopping bags, resonated prominently in the European market, amplifying the impact of mindful creation.

My journey also features an immersive stint at Italy's Sand and Birch studio. I worked in designing furniture for a country club in Cameroon, Africa and had the opportunity to follow my interest in cultural anthropology as a strong design direction. 

These experiences unveiled the symbiosis between design and ethics, emphasizing our pivotal role in waste reduction through conscientious choices. Alongside, I've dabbled in part-time graphic design roles during summers and undertaken STINTS in London to supplement my finances and embrace multifaceted experiences.

I am currently doing a two year full time post graduate course in MA Design : Furniture at Central Saint Martins, where I'm the course-rep and as well as the student ambassador.
