Somaia Barghash

Hello, my name is Somaia and I have been working in the field of UX for over two years now. Beyond my professional experiences, I am an eager learner and continuously seek to expand my knowledge in the field of UX and beyond. Being an Egyptian who was raised in Thailand, went to University in Turkey, and now living in the UK, I am a very flexible individual who is able to integrate and work with diverse teams. My diverse academic background also makes me a good critical thinker and problem-solver, which I believe are instrumental skills to have for any UI/UX Designer.

I started off my professional career as a researcher, then went into freelancing. I landed my first full-time internship with a berlin-based social startup called wellyou. During which, I got to discover and learn things like video editing, social media content, and marketing. My main responsibilities included, designing and maintaining the company’s responsive website, and creating design materials for their social media accounts. After that, I worked as a UI Designer for a Singaporean backend platform company. I was working directly with the CEOs and developers to make design decisions that could be implemented. My main responsibilities included re-designing their entire data-table dashboard and creating the company’s style-guide to ensure that they had a consistent unique brand identity. In my most recent role, I was a product designer with the Smartsheet's automation team, focusing on revamping the automation experience.

Currently enrolled in a master's program and always seeking continuous growth.
