Segregation Prison Custody Officer

- Liaising with both mental health and psychology as part of a tripartite team.
- Managing a very challenging mixture of inmates and their own personal requirements and behaviours.
- Creating one-page plans who will be re-integrating which is to help both the prisoners and the staff to gain a better understanding of their needs and for the safety of staff and inmate.
- Acting up as the segregation manager including both the people management and the daily tasks of a segregation manager including multi-disciplinary segregation meeting, SIM meeting, strategy meeting and all other administrative tasks.
- Creating and managing CSIP referrals, Personal management plans and care plans.
- Managing high intensity situations and maintaining high levels of communication across the segregation team to assist in the safe and successful running of the team.
Prison Custody Officer – Serco

- Manage and run the daily regime of the wing, making sure that all appointments are managed throughout the day as well as managing unforeseen events. This is important to help create a safe and secure environment and promote the reduction of offending.
- Making sure that all necessary paperwork and reports are completed within a timely manner.

- Managing daily request and queries from inmates and helping to resolve any queries or issues that they may have.
- Building rapport with all prisoners under my care, also maintaining positive relationships with both inmates and fellow staff members.

- Completing escort from the prisoner to various location and the necessary paperwork that comes with this task, in my time I have completed hospital, funeral and court escort which each require a differing skill set.
- Involvement in various use of force scenarios varying from spontaneous situations to planned relocations and such incidents as yard clearances and at high situations.
- Being asked to stand in as the house block manager on several occasions to manage the staffing and daily running of the house block.
- Arranging and completing keyworker sessions.
- Maintaining the good or and discipline of the establishment and assuring the dynamic security of the prison.
- Dealing with dynamic situations and responding in a controlled and safe way making sure that a high level of communication and professionalism is maintained at all times.
