I have excellent communication skills (has done various IT presentations to the businesses and internal staff) and have lots of experience in working with clients on a daily basis. I can explain technical information carefully to non-technical users and provide training on how to get the best out of their IT equipment.

Edward Cooper Young Chartered Surveyors: IT Manager                                            11/09 -Present

Responsible for the firm’s IT and technological delivery requirements at the office in Loughborough. Duties involve day to day IT support, keeping all the IT systems up to date and upgrading the infrastructure. This role has been great for me as the IT estate is all in my hands and the business have full faith in me to move the business forward with the latest technology. During this role I have been able to make sure the company are Cyber Essentials Certified, Asset managed, all electrical items PAT tested, redesigned the cabled and WIFI network, stabilised the server infrastructure, secured the VPN, encrypted all devices, provided training and CPD sessions for staff, and brought in Exclaimer to manage the email signatures, migrated to the cloud and SharePoint and decommissioned servers. I have also been able to save £40,000 per year on IT costs through supplier management and cancelling services. I have gained my commercial drone licences for the business to fly drones and I am in charge of several pilots and drones to provide training, health and safety and managing the operations for our flights across the country. I have worked with the Marketing department assisting them with photography, 3D Camera work as well.

 

Mark1IT Solutions: Senior IT Technician                                                                                          04/2018 – 11/2019

Working for a small IT Company based in Melton Mowbray looking after small to large companies, schools and colleges. Duties involve supporting the IT infrastructures at the clients sites or remotely, installing new IT hardware and software, looking for opportunities to improve their current IT configurations from information gathering to quotation to full project management and provisioning of IT systems. During this role I have been involved in sales for the company, interviewing new IT candidates, Staff 1 to 1’s and training. Managing clients, consultancy and training clients on new IT systems being installed, whether that is new operating systems or new phones systems etc and producing training documentation.

 

Flogas: IT Support Engineer                                                                                                   09/2011 – 04/2018

Working as a team and on my own to provide IT support to the Flogas business, providing software and hardware support at head office, over the phone, email and site visits across the country. I have extensive business knowledge and have a very good understanding of our ERP system (Codas) and other applications. Main area of expertise is Telephony systems and configuration. I have been involved in lots of high profile projects in the business from large acquisitions to installing new telephony systems and head office and depots, setting up new depots and relocating them. Presenting IT presentations for the business and training sessions. Managing all kinds of hardware from servers to PC’s, laptops, tablets, printers and mobiles. Involved with ordering them, recycling them, setting them up and fixing them. Managing users accounts across the business through ERP and Windows AD and email plus other software as required. Very often involved in the purchasing of IT equipment and sourcing solutions for the business needs. Negotiating with suppliers and internal relations.

Macs-Software Limited: Helpdesk Support                                                                      02/2011 – 09/2011

Working as a team and on my own to provide software support over the telephone and through email to a worldwide customer base and logging the support calls and seeing them through to resolution. The software supported is a warehouse management system and uses an advanced database structure. I am also involved in software upgrades, report changes and the use of software on scanning devices. Another part of my position is to document support issues and resolutions to create a database of faults and fixes to help the support team.

 

Barcellos Holdings Limited: Technical Support Engineer                                              07/2004 – 02/2011

Responsible for working as part of a team and on my own. To provide software and hardware support over the telephone and out on site to a nationwide customer base and log the calls using a call logging system. My position requires me to build, set up, configure and repair computer systems, printers and other computer hardware in the workshop. I am able to use all the Windows based operating systems and software. I am also required to understand the use and setup of networks. I am also involved in supporting accounting and payroll software and I create and design invoice layouts and I designed and maintain the company’s website.

 

Uni-Chem Warehouse: Transport Porter                                                                           08/1999 - 07/2004

Responsible for working as part of a team of between 8 to 12 people lead by a point of contact. On occasions I have been the point of contact for the transport department. The position relies on my ability to work with and organise people and tasks to meet production deadlines. It also requires the ability to work out problems quickly and efficiently. Be able to adapt to different jobs in a short period of time when necessary. Be flexible with hours and job roles if problems arise. AVCE Computing (Equivalent of two A Levels in computing) – NW&H College      09/2000 – 07/2002

Course included ICT serving organisations, communications and networks, spreadsheet design, multimedia, the Internet: systems and services, systems installation and configuration, managing and developing websites, database design, programs: specification to production, systems analysis, operating systems and systems architecture and presenting information. Passed with grade B.

Key Skills Level 2 Communication

This included preparing visual and oral presentations, discussions within a group, summarising information and writing a range of documents about different issues.                                                               

 

NVQ Level 2 Mechanical Engineering – NW&H College                                                09/1999 – 07/2000

Course included handling engineering information, establishing effective working relationships, general health and safety, basic engineering drawing, measuring and marking out, basic engineering materials, basic bench fitting, basic centre lathe turning and basic milling.
