Sydney Joy Oriondo
About Sydney Joy Oriondo:
I am a graduate honours student, who is striving to seek a permanent job role as a professional Architect Technologist. During my time in university, I have developed a wide range of excellent technical skills and knowledge, such as detailed drawings of plans, elevations, SUDS plans and details with further high quality of designs in Revit, and an adequate understanding of some building regulations. With these skills, I believe my contribution towards future projects can make a big impact in the construction and architecture industry. I am a hard-working individual, and have outstanding team working and communication skills. I aim to successfully complete any task I undertake in a qualified manner.
Experience
Third Year (2021 - 2022) Digital Design Practice with Existing Buildings
Conducted a site survey on BCU School of Arts and was able to digitise this on Revit.
- Produced excellent survey notes and acquired accurate measurements of the room we were given to survey.
- Using the measurements, we accurately produced the digital model of the room in assigned groups.
- Created various sheets on technical details, elevations, floor plans and sections.
Urban Design Practice in Context
Created a design-based proposal for a development project, which seeks to respond to a range of sustainable challenges.
- Produced a digital design of an old warehouse building that has been burnt down.
- The proposed building is an Asian cuisine restaurant.
- Further created a Design Access Statement regarding my proposal.
Research in Practice
Conducted in-depth research online for my dissertation, which discusses ‘The Effects of Indoor Environmental Quality on Work Productivity and Human Health in Commercial Buildings’
- Produced an online survey in order to gather data for my research specifically targeted individuals who are working.
Individual Honours Project
This project was divided into 3 sections.
- Part 1: Designed an existing residential building into a sustainable house for future homes in Revit, mainly targeting the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.
- Part 2: Successfully produced 14 details (ground floor, intermediate floor, roof eves, 2 SUDs features, 2 fire related features, solar panels, door, stair, rain water harvester, trickle vent, cladding and windows), whilst applying my extensive knowledge of regulations.
- Part 3: Created 4 display boards regarding my design concept and technical detail drawings, which was then presented for the innovation fest.
Second Year (2020 - 2021) Advance Design and Surveying Skills
Successfully completed four portfolio tasks.
- Task 1: Gathered in-depth research regarding the given site, such as analysis of the site area and the surroundings (Context Analysis).
- Task 2: Excellently designed a sustainable residential house and producing scaled drawings such as, floor plans, 4 elevations, 2D & 3D cross-sections. All drawings were produced on Revit.
- Task 3: Constructed a creative design diary that showcases my journey and innovative ideas throughout this project.
- Task 4: Created an outstanding display board regarding my design on Photoshop.
First Year (2019 - 2020) PESTLE Group Presentation
Demonstrated how new constructions can affect pestle, which gave me an insight of an Architect Technologist job. This was an amazing opportunity to gain more experience on this.
Integrated Digital Design – Commercial
Converted the BCU City South Campus from an office space to a teaching space for students. Followed the BIM Execution Plan in order to successfully achieve this on Revit. Successfully produced some technical detail drawings.
