About Terri Elson:
I currently work for FEDCAP Employment and have been for the past 4 years. We are a not-for-profit with clear direction, a commitment to excellence and an innovative approach to improving economic and social wellbeing.
We put health and wellbeing at the core of our service delivery. We believe that by helping people to improve their mental and physical health they will be in a much better place to find work. And we understand that getting people into work, in turn, can enhance their wellbeing further.
We deliver employability solutions, health services and community projects in partnership with like-minded organisations and stakeholders. This includes the delivery of the UK Government’s Restart Scheme and the Scottish Government’s Fair Start Scotland programme. My role as the Engagement Consultant will be the participants first point of contact when they join the Fair Start Scotland service. They'll have an initial meeting with myself to find out their needs and to see if they are eligible to join the service. I am with them every step of the way as they start their journey back towards employment.
Experience
Currently working in the Third Sector doing a job of supporting people back into employment and this is where I have found my passion for helping people reach their goals of positive Health & Wellbeing.
I have had many different jobs over the years, such as managing a photo centre, working in factories, working in sales etc but ultimately I have found my feet in the profession of supporting people with their mental health.
Since leaving school, I was always sure I wanted to help people but didn't quite know how to get there or what to help them with. I have sold houses, produced food and photographic memories and sold cars to people but nothing really fulfilled me until I started working with vulnerable adults, helping them seek their ‘peace and quiet’. Working with people who have disabilities, convictions, ethnic minorities, lone parents etc and being able to experience first hand what life is like for these individuals. Giving them my hand to help them get to where they want to be is the most fulfilling for me.
