Experience
- Responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety, regulatory compliance, legislation and documentation. Including Facilities Management, and Laboratory Management at CL1, CL2 and CL3. ISTR accredited Biological Safety Officer. Holder of IOSH Managing Safely Certificate. Holder of a Cryogenic Gases and Equipment Safety Certificate. Holder of a Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work. Fire marshal and emergency building lockdown or evacuation. Head of Environment, Health & Safety Committee, and chair of monthly meetings.
- Working with the Finance department and suppliers. Using a purchasing system and liaising with suppliers directly to procure supplies and equipment. Track and record these orders through an inventory system and ensure that the correct project codes are used, and budgets are not exceeded. Ensuring the laboratories material requirements are met at all times.
- Liaising with the Facilities Management team where available, or external contractors and engineers. Asset management including the fixed asset lifecycle process, service contracts, IQ/OQ/PQ, routine maintenance and repair, with a practical hands-on approach to repairs where appropriate.
- Building developments from scratch plus numerous laboratory/office refurbishments. Key stakeholder in business continuity planning.
- Introduction and utilization of Lean project management tools, including 6S, Sigma Six and Kanban.
- Safeguarding bioresources through careful and dedicated record keeping. Providing a 24/7/365 on call alarm service and daily monitoring.
- Working with internal legal representatives and liaising with external government organisations. MTA’s (Material Transfer Agreement) and more in-depth project agreements such as RCA’s. Managing couriers and filling out the required documentation to distribute internationally.
- Proficient in numerous computer packages including Microsoft 365. RT-ticketing system for department requests.
- Line Management experience of small teams throughout career.
