Wendy Pezzani

I am a Clinical Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Counsellor and have been counselling clients privately since August 2020.  I have provided therapy for clients online, over the phone and in person. I am a warm, empathetic and compassionate therapist, with an excellent ability to form therapeutic relationships. I have successfully treated quite a number of clients with their mental health concerns, stresses and worries. I have experience of working with very complex cases which includes childhood trauma, and can manage risks effectively. Due my years of work with Scottish Autism, I have provided therapy for many adults with autism. This neurological condition is more widely known about now and more people are starting to seek help to understand themselves better. My main area of interest is childhood trauma, however, I have successfully supported clients with their anxiety, depression and stress.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - CBT Therapist for Family Services and Mental Health Programme (remote) – March 2021 to present day.

I work as a church therapist and only see church members when they are struggling with their mental health. I am referred church clients through their bishops. Some issues may be weakening faith, marriage problems, pornography, addictions, depression, anxiety and childhood trauma.

Hypnotherapist – Private practice, working from home – Sept 2021 to present day

After graduating from my Hypnotherapy Diploma, I set up my own therapy practice working from home. I provide Hypnotherapy to clients struggling with addictions such as smoking and alcohol. I also support clients struggling with trauma, anxiety, stress and depression. I have been very successful with this and aim to continue this practice as long as I can.

First Psychology – Perth and Glasgow – Freelance CBT Therapist - face to face and remote work - Feb 2023 to present day.

I work as a freelance CBT therapist, working 2 days a week at the Perth clinic and 1 day a week from one of the Glasgow clinics. I see clients with a variety of different psychological problems. I see adults, children between the ages of 11 and 15 and also adolescence from 15 years of age. I see couples and at times members of the same family, for example fathers and sons. I provide a safe, comfortable environment for clients to meet to share their concerns with me.

The Better Health Generation – EAP Remote working – August 2022 to Feb 2023

I worked as a Counsellor remotely from home. I was employed 30 hours a week to provide psychological support for individuals and organisations providing high quality, evidence based and cost-effective health solutions to support performances at work, at home and on a social platform. Stress and anxiety were the main driving factors for those looking for psychological support.

CBT Therapist, privately working from home (remote and in person) – August 2020 to present day.

After graduating from my CBT Diploma, I set up my own therapy practice working from home. I provide CBT Therapy for clients struggling with their mental health. I support people who feel overwhelmed with anxiety, depression as well as trauma.  I have been very successful with this and aim to continue this practice as long as I can.

Action in Mind – Mental Health Charity, Stirling – Feb 2018 to Dec 2020

I had my student placement here and after I had finished my studies continued to work on a voluntary basis.

While still volunteering with Action in Mind, they offered me some paid work for a company called ‘Time and Space’, Counselling clients on a weekly basis. This went on for about 2 months.

My role was to counsel clients with a variety of mental health concerns on a moderate level.

Scottish Autism, Central Services, Alloa – May 2008 to August 2022

I was employed as an Autism Practitioner working days and nights in a Home Support Unit with 2 men with Autism. I have also worked in the Outreach sector with individuals with Aspergers Syndrome who lived independently. I have worked as part of a team and have also lone worked quite a lot. I supported service users to access activities within the community and also supported them within their home settings with cooking, and general house chores. I was involved in creating and updating risk assessments and developing care plans. I was Health and Safety Officer within my own unit and other units over the time I was employed with Scottish Autism.
