    Job overview

    An opportunity has arisen for a Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join the Integrated Rapid Assessment Service based at Colchester Hospital.

    The team are motivated and forward thinking consisting of Therapists, Nurses, Social Workers and Support Staff who work closely with other agencies.

    Main duties of the job

    You will assist the therapists in the delivery of patient care, maximizing the cost-effective use of professional time, both clinically and non- clinically.

    You should be able to work independently without supervision under instruction from the qualified staff, reporting back patient progress and informing the therapists of any problems.

    You will implement and evaluate a programme of therapy and rehabilitation activities to patients with acute, chronic or complex needs within the competency framework developed by the therapist.

    You will independently progress treatments of delegated patients with access to guidance, and determine when the patients have met their discharge criteria.

    Qualifications

    Essential criteria

  • GCSE or Equivalent Qualification in Core Subjects such as English and Maths
  • NVQ/HNVQ (in healthcare) or equivalent
  • Desirable criteria

  • HND/ Foundation Degree in healthcare/exercise therapy
  • Assistant member of appropriate professional body
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Experience of working within healthcare or rehabilitation setting
  • Working in teams
  • Experience of following rehabilitation treatment plans
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working unsupervised
  • Skills
