Located in Henfield, West Sussex, Acacia fills a niche gap within the hire market supplying quality, specialist machinery to professionals in the groundcare and arboriculture industries.

We are looking for a responsible Workshop Assistant/Delivery driver to divide their time between undertaking straight forward jobs in the workshop on our hire machinery and also delivering/collecting machinery promptly to/from our customers.

You will represent our company in a professional always aiming to ensure customer satisfaction.


Responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining and repairing a range of groundcare tools/machinery
• Deliver a wide variety of machinery across London and South East England
• Load, unload, prepare, inspect and operate delivery vehicle
• Ensure all loads are safely secured
• Demonstrate/professionally hand over machinery* ensuring the customer understands how to safely operate the machine prior to leaving site
• Comply with rules relating to Tacho hours
• Complete logs and reports
• Follow Dept of Transport regulations and safety standards
• On rare occasion you may be required to start early or finish late

Other duties include assisting the workshop staff as and when required including washing and refuelling machinery.

• Must have some mechanical skills and a proven interest in horticultural machinery
• Be able to follow strict safety procedures
• Proven working experience as a professional delivery driver (not multidrop)
• Valid professional driver's licence
• Must be able to tow 3.5 tonne trailers
• Ability to operate forklifts would be an advantage
• Previous mechanical experience would be helpful
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Good driving record any traffic violations must be declared prior to interview
• Good spoken English

*All necessary training will be provided on the safe operation and handover of machinery.
