We are currently recruiting for seasonal Park Operatives (both driver & non-driver) for Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council from April through to September.

The role:

Undertake work of a ground's maintenance and horticultural nature throughout the Parks Service to include the following

Playing Fields (artificial and grass) ; Towns and villages seasonal planting ; Play Parks; Parks and Open Spaces; Bowling Greens; Woodlands; Golf courses; Roundabouts & grass management; Cemeteries & Crematorium; Allotments.

Location:
Any Council site across the Borough

Hourly Rate:
Driver £14.08 per hour, Non-Driver £13.62 per hour

Working Pattern:
Week 1 Mon-Fri, Sat & Sun off, Week 2 Mon-Fri, Sat & Sun off, Week 3 Mon-Sat, Sun off plus one weekday off

Experience of working within a small team
A positive attitude and flexible approach
Working knowledge of grass cutting, and grounds maintenance techniques
Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations
As the post involves significant physical and manual handling elements, the post holder must be of a satisfactory level of general fitness
Ability to work in an outdoor environment in all types of weather
Willing to work overtime from time to time to meet the requirements of the service
Hold an NVQ Level 1 in Amenity Horticulture or be willing to achieve this within an agreed timeframe (funded course)

Additional Requirements for Driver roles:

Hold a full current driving licence and be willing to achieve C1+E class within 9 months of taking up the post (funded course)
Or
Hold a provisional driving licence and be willing to achieve a full current driving licence and the CI + E class within 9 months of taking up the post (CI + E funded course)

AND
Hold a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence and Qualification card or be willing to achieving this within 9 months of taking up the post (funded course)
