Description
Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.

Corporate Risk Advisor

Risk is inherent in everything that we do.

Effective risk management is key to ensuring the continuity and resilience of our service to our customers, as well as driving us toward our three key ambitions as set out within the Water Sector Vision:

  • Service excellence; adapting to a changing climate, dealing with our ageing assets and meeting our customers' evolving expectations.
  • Beyond net zero emissions; showing leadership in mitigating climate change and enhancing Scotland's natural environment.
  • Great value and financial sustainability; customers will receive great value, now and in the future, and we will be financially sustainable
Within the Corporate Risk Team, we focus on the biggest risks, both threats and opportunities, to Scottish Water's objectives.

Those risks which could significantly impact the services we provide to our customers, our strategic direction, our finances and our people.

Following a successful progression of an existing Corporate Risk Advisor within the team, a fantastic permanent opportunity has arisen to join our team.

Opportunities like these don't happen often, and we're excited to bring fresh perspective and thinking to our group and the wider Scottish Water company.

This role will provide you the opportunity to enhance your existing risk management skills and capabilities alongside your stakeholder management skills as you assist in aiding key internal stakeholders better understand their risks and navigate the best ways to manage them.

What you'll do

We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter, someone who can take the initiative and is passionate about adding value.

You will work closely with the Corporate Risk Specialists, supporting activities across risk reporting cycles to Senior Leaders, Executive Leadership Team, Audit and Risk Committee and Board.

You will assist with preparation for inputs into the Annual Report and Accounts Performance and Prospects 2023/24 and to regulatory submissions for SR27.

You will undertake analysis of risk information, quantitative and qualitative, understanding patterns and develop conclusions with supporting narrative. You will assess mitigation effectiveness and support assurance activities.

You will also have the opportunity to better your understanding of emerging risks within the water industry and beyond, helping shape Scottish Water's response to these threats and opportunities.

What you'll bring

You will ideally be educated to degree level and hold a suitable qualification in a risk related discipline

Looking out for you

While the work we do is important, we know it's not the only thing that matters. That's why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.

This role will occasionally require you to work outside of normal working hours. But you'll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.

For your future, there's our defined benefit pension (the 'know-what-you'll-get-when-you-retire' kind), and generous life assurance.

As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus.

Not to mention access to SW Splash - handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.

The salary range for this position is £35,384- £47,924 depending on experience.
