Having just completed the last phase of our Estate Plan which delivered £160m of new buildings and refurbishments we are now looking to embark on the next exciting chapter in the development of our campus.

We have extensive plans for development, reorganisation and refurbishment of key areas of our estate to support our University Strategy for

The Estate Development team are responsible for the maintenance, statutory compliance and development of the University estate.

We are a relatively small team of 21 staff located in the city center and look after 41 buildings across 3 campuses.

Our estate is varied in age, style and character and offers different opportunities and challenges every day.


We have a vacancy for a Building Services Officer to support the Head of Engineering Services and the wider Estate Development team, providing specific advice on the mechanical and electrical infrastructure of the estate.

You will require a technical background in Building Services and experience of energy data management and building energy management systems.

You will be associated with a cluster of buildings and pick up on all project and help desk requests for that area along with developing and delivering the long-term maintenance strategy.

Each year you will manage substantial refurbishment and alteration projects taking them from inception to completion.

You will build strong relationships with the building users so that the estate development department can provide the appropriate facilities to meet the user's needs.


We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated engineer who is able to collect and analyse data from the estate and bring forward schemes of work that will improve the overall performance and efficiency of the University building stock.

As part of a small team you will need to be able to work independently and demonstrate the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders as well as being able to instruct contractors and consultants.


Good communication skills and the ability to plan your own workload are essential, and you will need to be prepared to work over evenings, weekends and public holidays if required.
