The Asset Management team are responsible for ensuring that Wandle holds accurate and up to date information on our property portfolio, which includes energy and efficiency performance data.

This supports the organisations long term decision making and the delivery of Wandle's strategic objectives.


The
Energy Officer will play a key role in delivering Wandle's decarbonisation objectives as set out in our Asset Management Strategy.

The Energy Officer will also be responsible for supporting initiatives to promote the energy efficiency and sustainability of homes and promote measures to increase these issues among our residents.


They will support the effective management of utility contracts and billing arrangements for our communal systems ensuring full compliance with the Heat Network Metering and Billing Regulations (HNMBR).

The role also includes providing advice, researching, monitoring and reporting on the energy efficiency and sustainability of Wandle's properties.


A day in the life:


You will:


  • Play a key role in supporting the Energy and Sustainability Lead in implementing the Decarbonisation Strategy, as set out in our Asset Management strategy.
  • Seek opportunities to identify and secure investment through external funding streams and opportunities, including the Social Housing Decarbonisation Funding and ECO funding.
  • Be the administrator for 'Parity Projects' energy efficiency modelling software and maintain other specialist data to support bids and develop a robust understanding of Wandle's housing stock.
  • Assist in the procurement and supervision of retrofit work, ensuring contractors and consultants hold the appropriate thirdparty accreditation for their service, and that effective quality control is taking place.
  • Work with the Energy and Sustainability Lead and planned delivery teams to ensure retrofit projects are harmonised with other investment programmes to minimise disruption to residents and maximise value for money and efficiency.
  • Monitoring the impact of decarbonisation works and record post occupancy evaluations, ensuring that learning is built into future projects.
  • Keep abreast of all relevant legislation, regulations and targets for building performance.
  • Actively research new and innovative ways of delivering services that provide high quality and good value for money.
  • Effectively promote and publicise energy efficiency and decarbonisation initiatives to residents, and lead on a range of initiatives to support saving energy and ensure that their homes get the most from these initiatives, helping them to live more sustainably, save energy, and contribute to tackling fuel poverty.
  • Provide guidance and other materials on energy efficiency and decarbonisation matters to a wide range of audiences as required.
  • Support the Asset Data and Performance Lead in ensuring that Wandle continues to hold accurate energy performance information on our property portfolio.
  • Provide accurate information to the Finance and Customer Services Team for effective management of service charge information and energy billing arrangements.
  • Work with third party and Local Authority Partners to deliver on Wandle's capital investment projects on energy efficiency and net zero. Ensuring effective stakeholder engagement, partnership working and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships with colleagues ensuring delivery of a customer centred service that responds openly to internal and external customer needs, and places customer's involvement at the heart of the services.
  • Contribute to the development of design specifications to ensure that our properties maximise energy efficiency and sustainability through effective joint working with colleagues in the Development Team.
  • Provide support in the effective contract management of communal electricity sites to ensure accounts are billed accurately.

What you'll need to have:


  • Knowledge of PAS2035, PAS2030 and other relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, as it relates to decarbonisation within the social housing sector.
  • Understanding of the Heat Network Metering and Billing Regulations
  • Sound knowledge of relevant building regulations applicable to all types of domestic dwellings, including high rise developments.
  • Knowledge of the Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's) and SAP regime
  • Excellent analytical skills to understand and disseminate key points.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of working collaboratively within a team and across a range of teams both internal and external partners.
  • Knowledge of the funding frameworks surrounding social housing
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office especially Excel.
  • Ability to prepare technical energy efficiency and sustainability brief
