    Exciting Opportunity for Teaching Assistant

    Progress Schools is part of The Progress Group, the Group is made up of six business units, each of which aspires to innovate, influence, and inspire others through high-quality and purposeful education and training.

    Progress Schools is a national group of 13 independent OFSTED-regulated schools.
    Progress Schools are small but perfectly formed, with an average of 30-55 pupils on roll.

    Our sole focus is to help young people achieve positive progressions that will allow them to return to mainstream schools or enter Further Education.

    We provide opportunities for children who need a safe space outside of home, alongside adults who can provide a nurturing, encouraging and supportive environment.

    At Progress Schools – Wigan we support approximately 20 pupils on roll to ensure that we can provide ample opportunities for children who need a nurturing, encouraging and supportive environment, specifically for those who will reintegrate back into a mainstream setting.

    The school consists of a core team of the Head of School, three teachers, and two support staff.

    Further support is also provided by regional and national staff, who work with a number of schools across our group.

    As a Teaching Assistant, candidates would need to demonstrate an understanding of stages of development and individual needs. They must also be able to give positive encouragement and feedback to ensure pupils are reaching their full potential.
    Supporting all students throughout the school in a 1:1, whole class support or outside the class capacity

    ~Giving the pupils the chance to either get back into mainstream schools or progress into a sustained Post 16 pathway

    ~Overtly promote the values and achievements of the school to the community

    ~Be aware of and follow the company Equality, Safeguarding and Health and Safety Policies

    ~Assist the teacher with writing and monitoring pupil learning plans.

    ~Review and implement interventions which enable pupils to understand and meet their targets.

    ~Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other practitioners, drawing on their strengths and expertise to best support teaching and learning.

    ~Adapt to pupil and school requirements on a day to day basis.

    ~Work with all staff to address pupils' barriers to learning.

    GCSEs in Maths and English C or 4 grade and above (or an equivalent)

    ~Experience of working within an education setting or equivalent.

    ~Experience working with vulnerable pupils
