Options Appraisal Project Lead - Property Team

Hours: 35 hours per week

The role:


A newly created role that is set to really deliver impact and social benefit, this is a role where you can really make a difference to the lives of others.

The role will be responsible for reviewing the existing buildings and their wider sites and identifying opportunities for 'optimising the usage' of sites and in line with social value/ income generation ambitions. It is a role that really can make a difference to the sustainability of our churches, but also providing much wider social benefits to their communities and settings.

Firmly rooted in the delivery of our Transforming Church. Together strategy, the Options Appraisal Project Lead will provide a crucial role in creating a sustainable future for our parishes.

Who are we looking for:


For this role we are seeking a person with a creative vision and great stakeholder management skills, who enjoys finding solutions and optimising estate. They may have a background in housing, development, planning, surveying or project management.
Key duties are below, but it is envisaged that the post holder will develop the role further.

  • Review of the Diocese property portfolio, including but not limited to Parsonages, Halls, Churches, glebe. analysing the portfolio's usage across financial and social value metrics to inform the decisions and future sustainability.
  • Identify priority sites for potential redevelopment opportunities
  • Identify a list of sites where space could be utilised to enable parishes to identify income/ social value project opportunities
  • Deliver and oversee detailed options appraisal and feasibility for redevelopment sites, identifying options for use and making recommendations that align with the Diocese's strategic objectives
  • Source and formally appoint design teams for projects; monitor and hold to account throughout lifetime of project
  • Undertake the role of Client Representative for projects that are identified.
  • Work proactively with team members, stakeholders to support our decarbonisation goals and support and advocate for this work wherever necessary

Desired Skills and Experience:


Essential

  • Experience of estate development work
  • Experience in estate/development project management
  • Previous delivery of options appraisals and/ or feasibility studies
  • Previous track record of complex stakeholder Management
  • Understanding of the planning and legal challenges surrounding complex site developments
  • Experienced in setting up and managing design project teams
  • Experienced in achieving value for money in a values driven environment

The Organisation
The Diocese of Bristol is the administrative area of the Church of England that covers Bristol and Swindon.

There are more than 200 churches in the Diocese, led by hundreds of clergy, and around 15,000 children and young people attend our 72 church schools.

So, in many ways the best description is that it is the Diocese is a family of the 30,000 or so Clergy, Staff, Parish Officers and Church attenders who work together with a common goal.


This is an exciting time within the Diocese as we are collaboratively shaping a new vision and set of priorities for the coming years in a process called _Transforming Church.
