    Job summary

    We are seeking a credible senior leader in quality governance, risk and assurance to join the team. Candidates will be able to demonstrate a minimum of 5 years senior management of an organisational wide Quality Governance portfolio, particularly within a provider setting. A proven track record in successfully designing, embedding and maintaining oversight of effective organisational wide governance systems, particularly in NHS provider organisations.

    They will need to demonstrate effective management of NHS quality teams alongside strong influencing skills, capability building and support of key internal and external stakeholders. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate effective NHS Board development in key aspects of quality, risk and assurance. Formal mentoring and coaching skills also desirable.

    Main duties of the job

    You will have strong subject matter expertise in all aspects of quality governance, risk, and assurance within Health and Care and demonstrate an improvement approach to your work. The role involves working with NHS Provider and System boards and senior leaders to deliver expert guidance, challenge and direct improvement support. This will enable providers to embed key components of the well led framework, and build effective quality governance processes to support the delivery of high quality sustainable care.

    The role sits within a national regulatory body (NHS England) and as such the postholder will need to demonstrate the ability to understand and operate within this environment.

    Job responsibilities

    Candidates do not need to have a clinical background/professional registration but need to be able to demonstrate extensive subject matter expertise, a clear understanding of the health and care landscape and operate credibly in this environment.

    As this is a national role, you will be required to travel to NHS provider organisations across England. Aspects of the work will include site visits and at points may include on site working for 2-3 days for several weeks at a time.

    Salary progression Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 8d with a full-time starting salary of £91,317, with a pay step increase after 5 years service. These salaries are offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and the HEE Pay Progression Policy and are subject to annual cost of living review. Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area preferably within a clinical subject
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist area of quality governance, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience

    Essential

  • Significant demonstrable experience in health/social care community or similar complex organisation
  • Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications on this engagement
  • In-depth operational knowledge of the complexities of NHS risk and quality governance management which is underpinned by theory
