Description
The post holder will provide an administrative service to the Neurosciences Stroke Department.


The role will consist of the collation of stroke patient information for monthly submission onto the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP) a national database for healthcare quality improvement.


The post holder will be required to have good time management skills to meet monthly submissions deadlines by accessing confidential patient records and the Trusts' electronic systems.


The post holder will take direction from the Neurosciences Information Manager and Operational Services Manager for the day to day running of the service.


The post holder will be responsible for their own time management and ensure that they are correctly prioritising their workload.

The post holder will need to be able to work well under pressure and concentrate in a busy work environment.

The post holder will have contact with other members of the secretarial and admin teams, and the clinic team, including Consultants.

The ability to communicate effectively with different members of the multidisciplinary team is essential


A large proportion of this role will be computer based working; there may be occasions where the post holder will have to deliver notes to other clinical areas, undertake other administrative duties filing, scanning etc.

The post holder will be required to process, transmit and store patient data using a computerised system and file paper data within the case record in a retrievable format - if required

The post holder will be required to deal with telephone calls relating to general enquiries regards medical notes

Ability to locate and track medical notes in a timely manner

Liaising with staff to ensure the data sets are complete in order to complete monthly submissions

Support the speciality team in the delivery of SSNAP data collection

The post holder is required to have dexterity, coordination for keyboard skills or equivalent

The post holder will follow office and secretarial practices to continually strive to improve service delivery

The post holder may be involved with the timely resolution of verbal complaints, as well as having involvement in the formal complaint process in line with the Trust's Policy and Procedure for the Handling of Complaints

The post holder will have the use of office equipment and may be required to order stationary stock and supplies

Share the day to day workload of the speciality team

Maintain good working relationships and work as an effective team member

Ensure own work is of a high standard

Responsible for adhering to information governance processes in regards documents, spread-sheets and databases

Participate in annual appraisal

Requirement to take part in staff survey's as required

The post holder is required to work within standard administration procedures

May be required to sit for periods of time whilst processing information using a computer and filing information

Occasional indirect exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances

The post holder will be required to cover absence as and when required
