    Job summary

    We have an opportunity for a children's nurse to join the children's Continence team . The team work with children and young people within clinic settings, planning and delivering nurse led community children's continence clinics .The team work and support within special schools and other community settings. The clinician will hold a caseload ensuring effective relationships and collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team . They will provide advice and support and guidance to children and their families .

    There will be opportunities to undertake specific training relevant to the area of work and opportunity for progression within the role working towards a band 6 position with gaining experience and having undertaken key study within this specialist area

    Main duties of the job

    The applicant must be , dedicated, self-motivated, and able to work well independently but also within a team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for the role as the successful candidate will deal with children, young people and families and the wider multidisciplinary team in the community.

    The applicant requires an interest to develop skills and experience in Paediatric Continence

    The post holder will be based at Whitegate Drive Health Centre in Blackpool and support working in clinic's based in Blackpool area working alongside colleagues from various health professions. They can expect to be well supported via various routes including Trust induction, local team induction programme, clinical supervision, and Team meetings, Appraisal / Personal Development Review / Personal Development Plan etc.

    Job responsibilities

    The post holder will be responsible for the clinical care and treatments of children andyoung people as part of the Childrens community nursing team.

    The children and young peoples needs are paramount and nursing support to the childor young person will be delivered by the team wherever that child or young person is,working in home, and school settings for all children and young people aged 0 19years.

    The post holder will be flexible with their hours to provide support before school and inthe evening, including contributing towards a 24/7 palliative care service. They willassist in the implementation and lead of clinical areas, ensuring that areas of practiceare evidence based, effective and meet any quality guidelines eg NICE.

    Qualifications and Training

    Essential

  • RSCN / Child Branch/ RGN or LD with a minimum of 5 years post registration experience
  • Degree educated
  • Mentorship
  • Teaching & Assessing Qualification
  • Paediatric Life Support training maintained and up to date
  • Desirable

  • Master's Degree/work towards
  • Children's Community Nurse Degree
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Demonstrate clear understanding of the role of team within a community setting
  • Experience of working autonomously, delivering patient care
  • Experience of liaison with different agencies
  • Evidence of management / leadership skills+
  • Evidence of at least one clinical area/interest to lead on
  • Desirable

  • Experience of nurse led initiatives /clinics
  • Two years' experience in children's community services at Band 5
  • Experience of teaching and educating children and families
  • Skills

    Essential

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Confident in teaching and educating colleagues and wider MDT
  • Computer literate
  • Experienced to develop care plans and bespoke individualised plans
  • Ability to work with colleagues across health, education and social care settings

  • Counselling skills

  • Evidence of professional updating
