Job Description Product Development Engineer – Permanent Position

This role, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager and Technical Director, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving the development of cutting-edge products from concept to market release.

This organisation works across a number of key industries including military, construction and nuclear having built strong relationships and reputation over a number of years.

conceptualisation and design of new products, working closely with the Engineering Manager and Technical Director to align designs with strategic objectives.

advanced CAD software (e.g. Solidworks) to create a detailed, precision-engineered product design
the development of prototypes, coordinating with manufacturing and testing teams
thorough testing and validation of prototypes.

collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including process engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, quality assurance, and marketing, ensuring alignment with overall project goals.

update managers on project progress, challenges, and proposed solutions.
materials and manufacturing processes to ensure optimal performance, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
with procurement to select cost-effective materials without compromising quality.
closely with regulatory affairs teams to obtain necessary approvals.
with the departments across the company to identify cost-effective solutions while maintaining high-quality standards.
detailed documentation of design specifications, test results, and project progress.
participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing ideas to enhance product development processes, reduce time-to-market, and improve overall efficiency.

HND in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
~ experience in product development within the engineering or manufacturing industry.
~ in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant design tools.
~ understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
~ with regulatory standards and certification processes.
