    Location: Birmingham, UK (>= 1 day per week)

    Home working vs. office: we are flexible with regard to home working vs. office; we want you to work where you do your best work. As a guide, across our business we will typically do 1 or 2 days a week in the office. In the early stages of your career with us, we may ask you to be in the office more, but we will always seek to be accommodating (e.g. childcare; appointments; etc.).

We use our clients' legacy technology in combination with our data, insight and technology platforms to facilitate low-risk, high-speed, iterative, data-driven online innovation.     We are based in Birmingham and Exeter (as well as having a few people dotted around in Oxford, Haywards Heath, Chelmsford, and London).

    The Role


    • This role reports into the MD.
    • Provide leadership and direction to the finance team, overseeing day-to-day financial operations and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
    • Implement a robust financial infrastructure
    • Manage financial planning and analysis processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, to support decision-making and optimise financial performance.
    • Lead the preparation of financial reports, including monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and annual financial statements, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
    • Collaborate with the senior leadership team, to drive strategic initiatives, evaluate our business model, and manage risks effectively.
    • Oversee cash management activities, ensuring adequate liquidity and optimising cash flow through effective cash forecasting and management of banking relationships.
    • Manage tax planning and compliance, working closely with external advisors (where required) to optimise tax efficiency and ensure adherence to tax regulations.
    • Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes relevant to independent companies and the technology sector, providing strategic guidance and recommendations to senior management.
    • Lead the growth strategy from a finance perspective and advise on potential future M&A activities

    Essential


    Skills and Experience


    • Qualified Accountant, ACA/ACCA/CIMA, with 3+ years experience in a FD or FC role
    • Experience in cashflow management
    • Willingness and enthusiasm to progress and succeed within the business.
    • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
    • High attention to detail in every aspect of work undertaken ensuring accuracy of reporting and analysis.
    • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
    • Excellent organisation and leadership skills

    Nice to have


    • Experience in a scale-up environment, especially the Technology Sector
    • Experience advising business owners on exit strategies / succession planning
    • Shareholder Management
    • Exposure to Company Secretary requirements
    • Knowledge of R&D tax relief
