About this Role


The Whitworth Art Gallery is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join its catering team as Hospitality Team Leader.


Supporting the Manager and Assistant Manager, the post holder will help to coordinate the gallery's busy café service in support of the visitor experience, including the administration of bookings/reservations, together with supporting the supervision of events, hospitality and other business (including Weddings) across the gallery spaces, providing operational supervision of the hospitality/events team and ensuring overall standards of the facilities and service are consistently delivered to client requirements and expectations.


A natural positive attitude towards a busy/pressurised environment and the ability to work flexibly across the week to the requirements the business is essential to this role.

Previous experience running catering and event operations within a cultural venue/institution is preferred but not essential.


Hours and Work Pattern
This is a new role within the café team.

The expectation is that this will be working towards a full-time role, working between 30 to 40 hours a week across 5 days out of 7, including evenings and weekends to suit the needs of the café and events that are taking place.

The catering operation at the Art Gallery can operate on a 7-day-a-week basis, however presently the business is open Tuesday to Sunday.


University Catering


The catering at The Whitworth Art Gallery will be operated by the University's catering team, which encompasses a broad and diverse range of business areas - including retail outlets, catered halls, student bars, conferencing, events and hospitality.


With such a varied range of business across the week, the department is always a buzz of activity - no two days are ever the same.

The business operates 7-days a week, accommodating events and hospitality both daytime and evenings across the week, including weekends.
