    Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - Student SN
    Are you a Nurse of Midwife who would like a career in public health ?
    We are recruiting for the Sept 24 or Jan 24 intake for School Nurse students.

    The course is full time for one year and will commence in September 2024 and comprises of 50% academic and 50% clinical placement in accordance with the University and Trust regulations.

    You will be sponsored by Whittington Health and secure a place at either King's College London University , City University for September 24 and HERTS or Greenwich for Jan 25 to complete PG level (7) in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing and qualify as a School Nurse.

    You will have a 12 month fixed term contract.

    On qualification as a Health Visitor (band 6) we request and encourage that you continue your employment with us for at least one year (subject to terms and conditions).

    Whittington Health are offering an exciting opportunity to qualified nurses and midwives with NMC registration to become part of our progressive, innovative and integrated School Nurse Service in either Islington or Haringey.

    The school Nurse plays a pivotal role in supporting young people within schools using key principles in public health nursing.

    We have had to innovate quickly to deliver our services and support to communities and this adaptation and innovation continues from a student to a practitioner.

    We are part of a wider integrated multi disciplinary service for children in the Boroughs with a focus on public health delivering the healthy child programme to diverse communities.

    *Current NMC Registration for nursing or midwifery

    Nursing / Midwifery Degree/ Post Grad Diploma/ DipHE qualification equivalent to 120 credits at level 6 (of the Higher Education Credit Framework for England) or evidence of previous education and learning to this level.

    Evidence of level 7 training/learning within last 5 years.
    Knowledge of the Public Health role of contemporary health visiting/school nursing & working in community settings
    ~

    • Knowledge of local and national policies which influence the provision of health visiting /school nursing
    ~ Current knowledge of safeguarding issues
    ~ Evidence of academic ability to study independently at degree or postgraduate level
    Evidence of supporting equality and valuing diversity in own practice
    Have a flexible approach to team and autonomous working, acknowledging own limitations
