Social Media Evaluation - Volunteer

Who we are:


Corporate Communications - the department that is responsible for all internal and external communications and engagement for West Midlands Police.

This includes the WMP website, all WMP social media channels and working with the media on both reactive and proactive stories.

We are at the centre of ensuring everyone is kept up to date with all the fantastic work WMP is carrying out, from both our officers and our staff.

We try to ensure that we are utilising the best forms of communication to reach the maximum number of people, and we are always looking for ways to improve.


Why we need your help:


We are currently reviewing how we evaluate our social media channels and would appreciate support from those studying the topic to ensure we are using the most up to date and effective methods of evaluation.

This would involve research and insights work around how we can best engage with local communities through our own channels and hyper-local platforms.

Your work will ensure that we are using our social media channels to reach more of our communities, and will guarantee that we can continue to review our processes to the correct standard.

As our social media evaluation volunteer, you will be able to support a piece of work that will continue to advance WMP by improving the way we evaluate our promotional routes.


We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to assist us with the following:

  • Work with the Corporate Communication Team to improve our social media evaluation methods
  • Research the best ways to utilise and scrutinise our social media platforms to ensure we are effective in our communications.
  • Assist with a research project looking into how to reach young adults with our campaigns
  • Gain insights into targeted adds by linking in with stakeholders and partners of WMP

Skills and Experience:


  • Friendly and approachable
  • Good communications skills & a good level of written and spoken English
  • Reliable with good timekeeping skills
  • Happy to work independently or as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and good observational skills
  • Administration skills (Microsoft Office, Internet)
  • Strong research skills
  • Experience in research projects or evaluating data

Essential information:

  • Volunteers are eligible to claim £5.00 towards their lunch if they volunteer over 4 hours on given day.
  • This role description is intended as an indicator of general areas of activity and will be amended with any changing needs of West Midlands Police It is expected that the volunteer will be flexible, using this document as a framework

Hours:


We are looking for volunteers to commit at least 16 hours per month ideally for a minimum of 3 months.

Time and date to be agreed with the department supporting the volunteer.
