    There are two posts available

    1st post is 37.5 hours permanent 2nd post is 30 hours permanent The Specialist Audiologist is a senior Clinician working predominatly with adult patients in the diagnosis and rehabilitation, with significant post qualification experience, who is able to take further responsibility within the department and to supervise other staff. Provision of a full range of routine and non-routine audiometric investigations, and a comprehensive hearing aid service to a predominantly adult population. Be able to undertake specialist audiology support in the areas of tinnitus, advanced hearing aid fitting, vestibular rehabilitation, diagnostic ABR testing, Newborn Hearing Screening and student assessment.

    Main duties of the job Perform the full range of routine and non-routine diagnostic tests following recommended procedures. Participating in routine ENT and audiology clinics as required. Assess and interpret the results and report on as necessary. To undertake adult direct referal clinics for hearing assessment and hearing aid assessment and reassessment. This involves taking a full case history and the assessment of otological clinical conditions., including complex assessments, onward referal for an ENT opinion if indicated. To convey recommendations for management / intervention to the patient and family/ carers, and produce timlely reports to the refering party and other relevant professionals regarding any assisstive listening devices that may be required. To provide rehabilitation, counselling, advice and training to new and existing hearing aid patients. All patients will be hearing impaired but many will have complex communication needs and will need reassurance and persuasion in accepting their hearing loss/hearing aid. Motivating patients to comply with treatment programmes and making choices clear to patients is freqently challenging, not least because of the stigma that patients often perceive. A high level of communication skill is needed as patients have barriers to understanding due to their hearing loss and poor speech discrimination.     • Committed to self development and CPD.
    • BSc in Audiology or equivalent i.e. BTec (MPPM) and BAAT Parts 1 and 2 professional qualification plus RCCP/ HCPC/AHCS Registration.

    • European Computer Driving License or similar advanced computer training
    • Typing qualification (RSA Level 2)
