    About the Role

    Working with architects, technical teams and business stakeholders to pioneer an API led architecture within SSP, using MuleSoft to help continuing to create a culture where integration can happen easily and seamlessly. Accountable for helping design, implement, test and support various IT systems and technologies across the business in an efficient manner. Responsible for helping to move the Group IT function towards a DevOps operating model favouring automation, integration, quality and performance engineering, software development pipelines and infrastructure as code wherever possible. The immediate focus will be working within the MuleSoft Centre for Enablement (C4E), continuing to enable the use of MuleSoft throughout the SSP estate, creating reusable assets and evangelising an API led environment.

  • Work with the C4E lead and senior integration engineer to help develop an efficient operating model, establish development practices, establish self-serve asset consumption, and enable the organisation to continue using MuleSoft to unlock assets and data
  • Work with technical teams and business users to establish a feedback loop, and continuously improve processes and assets
  • Support the evangelisation of MuleSoft using brown bag sessions, API events, hackathons, etc
  • Contribute to and help to drive the transformation of culture which will include the training and upskilling of colleagues and business resources
  • Work with project teams to support project specific developments using MuleSoft
  • Work with our managed service to monitor SSP's usage of Anypoint Platform, working with the C4E lead and senior integration engineer to establish effective alerting, monitoring and logging, ensuring the platform is used in an optimal way
  • Write and communicate technical requirements for new and ongoing projects
  • Research and recommend systems, solutions, and technologies
  • Work with the project technical leads to help to define, scope and deliver integrated IT solutions utilising Application Programming Interface (API) techniques
  • Turn requirements into technical implementations between internal and 3rd party systems and services
  • Perform data analysis and recommend, implement, and support solutions for data extraction, enriching, load and interchange

    Skills/Knowledge Required

    Essential

  • Proven experience using MuleSoft
  • Proven experience developing interfaces (APIs)
  • Experience with using Continuous Integration systems such as Jenkins and Azure DevOps
  • Proficiency in implementing and delivering business requirements throughout the software development life cycle
  • Proficiency in creating and supporting solutions deployed to business teams
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting software issues and debugging distributed systems
  • Experience of creating technical documentation and interpreting business requirements
  • Experience of testing applications, manually or through automation technologies
  • Experience working within project delivery for a retail business
  • Experience working with testing business requirements
  • Experience supporting and performing defect resolution on IT Systems
  • Desirable

  • Experience of using Jira to manage project delivery
  • Experience of Value Steam Mapping
  • Knowledge of algorithms and data structures
  • Experience delivering solutions using waterfall and agile methodologies
