    THE COMPANY:

    Our client is a successful retail and corporate banking firm. They are looking for a Credit Risk Deputy Manager to join their thriving team in London.

    THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Review all SME, investment, bank and corporate lending proposals to confirm exposure is within policy guidelines, the quality of proposal is sufficient and rating is correct.
    • Review all retail lending proposals where there are (non-minor) exceptions to policy to confirm the quality of proposal is sufficient and grading is correct.
    • Review and validate all proposed extensions, rollovers and loan restructuring to confirm quality of proposal is sufficient, the loan / exposure is within guidelines and grading is correct.
    • For each of the above, prepare a brief independent report of the individual quality of the loan proposed, the rating assigned and how it impacts the structure of the whole credit portfolio. Attend credit approval committees and report concerns and raise issues for discussion.
    • Review a sample of standard retail (BTL and other) loans to ensure that all the files and supporting evidence is correct and that proposals are complete and accurate, then confirm that lending was within policy.
    • Liaising with Business Heads (Chief Credit Officer, Head of Corporate Credit, Head of Retail Credit, and Head of Credit Admin) as well as analysts ensuring pipeline management and effective risk management.
    • Review all new credits/ renewals/review proposals to confirm exposure is within policy guidelines and the quality is sufficient.
    • Prepare a brief independent report of the individual quality of the loan proposed and attend credit approval committees and report concerns and raise issues for discussion.
    • Liaising with Business Heads (Head of Credit (Bilateral), Head of Syndication) as well as analyst for pipeline management and effective risk management.
    • Part of the team supporting the CRO to complete the credit related elements of the ICAAP, ILAAP, RRP and liaise with respective business areas and heads of depts. credit risk management.
    • In co-ordination with front line (1LOD) review the credit, concentration and country Risk Appetite Statements and propose to Senior Management appropriate changes.
    • In co-ordination with frontline, ensure all credit, product, concentration and country policies are up-to-date and relevant.
    • In conjunction with the Credit Analysts and Senior Management, ensure that a credit rating methodology remains robust for all types of credit exposure.
    • Assess the areas for continual improvements, including technology solutions, that can enhance the quality and consistency of credit decisions being made and help cut costs and accelerate the decision making process.
    • Ensure all credit exposures are within approved limits (including derivative and off balance sheet exposures).
    • Prepare reports on trends in the quality of loan portfolios over a period of time.
    • Review all Key Risk indications to establish if any triggers or targets have been breached and appropriate action taken.
    • Review and confirm exposures against currency, country and region limits and sector and industry limits.
    • Support the CRO with development of model/procedure for Credit Stress Test.
    • Undertake periodic stress testing on all types of credit related exposures, i.e. counterparty risk, concentration and country exposures.
    • Coordinate the Credit Section of the Risk Management Committee, including review and preparation of papers and presenting Executive Summary
    • Providing support to CRO for education and training to staff to build credit risk awareness within the organization.
    • Prepare executive summary for Credit Risk sections of Risk Committee packs, with opportunity to present the same to a senior audience.
    • Participate in ad hoc Credit and Risk projects as appropriate.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Financial, Management and Credit analysis of a corporate entity.
    • Knowledge of Lending Products available in the Market for Commercial Real Estate, BTL and Corporate Banking.
    • Understanding of Leveraged Loans, its assessment and its market.
    • Ability to challenge, independently and constructively, the credit issues in proposed loan exposures.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
    • Understanding of UK, US and India lending environment.
    • An understanding, and experience of, buy to let, mortgages, commercial real estate, corporate lending and unsecured corporate lending.
